Frederick Musiiwa Makamure Shava (born 20 March 1949) is a Zimbabwean politician who was appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade in February 2021 and sworn in on 2 March 2021. [1] [2] He also serves as a member of the Senate representing Midlands Province,having been sworn in on 17 March 2021. [3] He replaced the late Sibusiso Moyo in both the Senate and as foreign minister. [3]
Prior to his appointment,Shava served as Zimbabwe's representative to the United Nations,where he was the President of the UN Economic and Social Affairs Council. [4] [5] Shava also served in Robert Mugabe's government as the Minister of Labour,Manpower Planning and Development from 1981 to 1986 and Minister of State for Political Affairs in 1987. [6] While a cabinet minister in the Mugabe government,Shava was convicted for perjury in the Willowgate motor scandal,a matter that he was later pardoned for by the president. [7] He also served as Zimbabwe's ambassador to China from 2007 to 2014. [4] [7]
Shava was born on 20 March 1949 in Chivi,in what was then the colony of Southern Rhodesia. [4] He attended secondary school at St. Ignatius College in Chishawasha,and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in biology from the University of Zambia [4] or the University of Zimbabwe. [8] He also holds a Master of Science in nematology from Imperial College London and a Master of Philosophy and Doctor of Philosophy,both in parasitology,from Royal Holloway College. [4] [8]

Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa is a Zimbabwean politician who has served as President of Zimbabwe since 24 November 2017. A member of ZANU–PF and a longtime ally of former President Robert Mugabe,he held a series of cabinet portfolios and was Mugabe's Vice-President until November 2017,when he was dismissed before coming to power in a coup d'état. He secured his first full term as president in the disputed 2018 general election. Mnangagwa has been re-elected in 2023 with 52.6% of the votes. Nelson Chamisa came in second with 44%.

Didymus Noel Edwin Mutasa is a Zimbabwean politician who served as Zimbabwe's Speaker of Parliament from 1980 to 1990. Subsequently,he held various ministerial posts working under President Robert Mugabe in the President's Office. Phelekezela Mphoko is a Zimbabwean politician,diplomat,businessman and former military commander who served as Second Vice-President of Zimbabwe from 2014 until 2017,as well as Zimbabwe's ambassador to Russia,Botswana and South Africa. Legally,Mphoko was the acting President of Zimbabwe from 21–24 November 2017,however,as he was not in the country at the time,official standing on this is unclear. Mphoko's term as vice-president was ended by President Emmerson Mnangagwa following the dissolution of the cabinet on 27 November 2017.

He was the Member of the House of Assembly for Masvingo South (ZANU-PF). It was announced on November 27,2017,that Simbarashe Mumbengegwi was now the acting Foreign Minister of Zimbabwe. In October 2020,it was revealed Mzembi was among those who fled to South Africa before their criminal trials could be completed.

Willowgate was a 1988–89 political scandal in Zimbabwe involving the illegal resale of automobile purchases by various government officials,uncovered by The Bulawayo Chronicle. The ensuing investigation resulted in the resignations of five members of President Robert Mugabe's cabinet. One of the five,Maurice Nyagumbo,later committed suicide after being charged with perjury. The reporters who had broken the story,Geoffrey Nyarota and Davison Maruziva,were subsequently removed from their posts.

Sibusiso Busi Moyo was a Zimbabwean politician and army Lieutenant general. He was noted for announcing the ousting of Robert Mugabe on national television during the 2017 Zimbabwean coup d'état. He went on to serve as Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade in the cabinet of Emmerson Mnangagwa from November 2017 until his death.
