Gomoa District is a former district that was located in Central Region, Ghana. Originally created as an ordinary district assembly in 1988. However on 29 February 2008, it was split off into two new districts: Gomoa West District (capital: Apam) and Gomoa East District (capital: Gomoa Afransi). The district assembly was located in the southeast part of Central Region and had Apam as its capital town.
Gomoa District was mainly inhabited by the Akan-subgroup Fantes. The inhabitants were mainly farmers and fishermen.
Apam was the capital of Gomoa District. The native name for this region was “Apaa.” Most of the people living in Apam were engaged in the fishing industry, supplying the land-locked villages surrounding it with fish. There was also a vibrant salt industry in Apam, in which salt is got from the lagoon. There is a secondary school and a hospital that serves the people of Apam and the surrounding areas.
One of the main attractions in Apam is a fort built by the Portuguese, called Fort Patience.
The people of Apam celebrate the "Akwambo" festival. Akwambo literally means "the making of a way". It is celebrated to mark the time when their ancestors made their way to Apam.

The district assembly was located in the southeast part of Central Region and had Winneba as its capital town.
Bolgatanga Municipal District is one of the fifteen districts in Upper East Region, Ghana. Originally created as an ordinary district assembly in 1988 when it was known as Bolgatanga District; which was established by Legislative Instrument (L.I.) 1438, until the southeast part of the district was split off by a decree of president John Agyekum Kufuor in August 2004 to create Talensi-Nabdam District; thus the remaining part was elevated to municipal district assembly status on the same year to become Bolgatanga Municipal District, which was established by Legislative Instrument (L.I.) 1797. However, on 15 March 2018, the eastern part of the district was later split off to create Bolgatanga East District, which was established by Legislative Instrument (L.I.) 2321; thus the remaining part has been retained as Bolgatanga Municipal District. The municipality is located in the central part of Upper East Region and has Bolgatanga as its capital town, which also serves as the capital of the Upper East Region.
Apam is a coastal town and capital of Gomoa West District in the Central Region of Ghana, located approximately 45 kilometers east of the Central Region capital, Cape Coast.
Fort Patience is a Dutch-built fort located in the township of Apam, in the Central Region of Ghana. Originally built in 1697, it served as a defensive fortification and a trading post. Because of its testimony to European pre-colonial and colonial influence in West Africa, the fort was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List along with several other forts and castles in Ghana.

Mumford is a town in the Gomoa West District of the Central Region of Ghana, near the Central regional capital Cape Coast. As of 2013, Mumford has a settlement population of 18,368 people. It is a fishing community and also celebrate Akwambo festival in first week of November every year.

The Gomoa Onyaadze Solar Power Station is an operational grid-connected 20 megawatts (27,000 hp) solar power plant, in Ghana. The privately owned power station sells its power to the Power Distribution Services Ghana (PDSG), formerly Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), under a long-term power purchase agreement.
