Allegheny County is a county in Pennsylvania, United States. It is located in Southwestern Pennsylvania. As of the 2020 census, the population was 1,250,578, making it the state's second-most populous county, after Philadelphia County. Its county seat and most populous city is Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania's second most populous city. Allegheny County is part of the Pittsburgh, PA metropolitan statistical area and the Pittsburgh media market.
West Homestead is a borough in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, United States, 8 miles (13 km) southeast of Pittsburgh, on the Monongahela River. Heavy industries associated with nearby steel mills existed here, such as axle works, brickworks, and manufactories of machinery, car wheels, etc. The largest concern was Mesta Machinery, which was one of the world's leading industrial manufacturers from 1898 until 1983. The population was 1,872 at the 2020 census.

The John F. Singer House is a house in Wilkinsburg, Pennsylvania, United States, an east-side suburb of Pittsburgh. It was built for John F. Singer, who was made wealthy during the American Civil War by supplying the Union Army with iron and steel.
The Pennsylvania Railroad Station-Wilkinsburg is located in Wilkinsburg, Pennsylvania, on Hay Street at the foot of Ross Avenue. The building was completed in 1916 when the railroad embankment through town was elevated above street level to eliminate hazardous grade crossings. The two previous stations had been located three blocks southeast along Wood Street between Franklin and Rebecca Avenues.
The Walker-Ewing Log House is an historic, eighteenth century loghouse located in Collier Township, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. Owned and managed by the Pioneers West Historical Society beginning in the 1990s, the home and land were acquired by the Allegheny Land Trust in 2020 with oversight responsibility for the building's preservation and easement given to the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy.

David F. Creighton was an architect, mechanical engineer, and construction manager from Pennsylvania. He designed worker housing in Gary, Indiana that incorporated concrete and terraces in what was termed terraced housing "based on the Philadelphia plan". It was progressive and "homey" and imaginative in its details. About 77 of the houses that he designed in Gary survive.
