Hasnabad railway station is a Kolkata Suburban Railway station on the Sealdah–Hasnabad line. It is located at Hasnabad in Hasnabad subdivision of North 24 Parganas district in the Indian state of West Bengal. It serves Hasnabad and the surrounding areas.
Sealdah-Hasnabad Railway constructed a 762 mm (2 ft 6 in) narrow-gauge line in 1914 as a part of Martin's Light Railways. [1] The line was closed in 1955. [2]
The 33.06 km (21 mi)-long 5 ft 6 in (1,676 mm) broad gauge Sealdah–Hasnabad line was constructed between 1957 and 1962. [3]
Eastern Railway has some WDM-2D locos, which is used on the Sealdah–Hasnabad route amongst others. They were used to haul 8 coach push-pull DEMU trains way back till the complete line was electrified. The DEMU trains had two cabs at either end to control the train. But now they are no longer in use. They have been replaced by BHEL and Jessop EMU rakes, which are currently stabled in Barasat EMU shed. Doubling of this line has been started since 2016.
The Hasnabad–Machlandapur line is one of the 84 new line projects sent to Planning Commission and the Ghatakpukur-Hasnabad line is one of the 111 new line surveys to be taken up in 2012–13, as per the Railway Budget proposals for 2012–13. [5]
Sealdah railway station is one of India's major railway terminals serving the city of Kolkata. It is the second largest railway station in India and West Bengal in terms of platforms, tracks and overall daily passenger holding capacity. It is one of the five large railway stations serving the Kolkata metropolitan area, the others being Howrah, Shalimar, Kolkata and Santragachi. Over 1.5 million passengers use the station on a daily basis. It is an important suburban rail terminal of Kolkata Suburban Railway. Passengers can use the Sealdah metro station to transfer to the Green line of Kolkata Metro.
The Kolkata Suburban Railway is a suburban and regional rail system serving the Kolkata metropolitan area and its surroundings in West Bengal, India. It's network has 458 stations and a track length of 1,501 km (933 mi) making it the largest suburban railway network in the country, and also one of the largest in the world. There are five main lines and nineteen branch lines. It operates more than 1,500 services, carrying 3.5 million people daily and 1.2 billion people every year. It runs from IST 03:00 am until 02:00 am approximately and fares range from Rs.5 to Rs.25. The system is electrified with 25 kV 50 Hz AC overhead line and runs on 5 ft 6 in broad gauge track. It has interchange stations with the Kolkata Metro at various locations.
Martin's Light Railways (MLR) consisted of seven narrow-gauge railway lines in the states of West Bengal, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh in India. The railways were built and owned by Martin & Co., which was a British company. Later, it was being operated by Indian government and was permanently shut down in 1980's.
The Howrah–Barddhaman chord line is a broad-gauge rail line connecting Howrah and Bardhaman. The 95-kilometre-long (59 mi) railway line operates in Howrah, Hooghly and Purba Bardhaman districts in the state of West Bengal. It is part of the Howrah–Gaya–Delhi line, Howrah–Delhi main line, Howrah–Prayagraj–Mumbai line and the Kolkata Suburban Railway system.
The Howrah–New Jalpaiguri line is a railway line connecting Howrah railway station to New Jalpaiguri Junction railway station in the Indian state of West Bengal. The line continues through North Bengal and western part of Assam to connect with Guwahati. The Naihati–Bandel link allows trains from another terminus Sealdah in Kolkata to use this route. The line uses a major part of the Barharwa–Azimganj–Katwa loop. Many trains use an alternative line between Howrah and New Farakka, via Azimganj. Other parts of West Bengal and Bihar are well-connected to this line. It is under the administrative jurisdiction of Eastern Railway and Northeast Frontier Railway.
The Sealdah–Ranaghat–Gede line connects the Sealdah Main and North terminus of Kolkata with Ranaghat and Gede of Nadia district of West Bengal, India. Once a part of the old Calcutta–Siliguri main line, today it is a busy suburban section of the Kolkata Suburban Railway's Sealdah North section connecting the North 24 Parganas and Nadia districts with Kolkata. The Ranaghat–Krishnanagar City–Lalgola line is a 155 km (96 mi) long broad gauge railway line which connects Ranaghat Junction in the Nadia district with Lalgola in the Murshidabad district of the Indian state of West Bengal. Dum Dum Junction is a Kolkata Suburban Railway junction station on the Sealdah–Ranaghat line. Its code is DDJ. It is the busiest railway junction in Kolkata suburban railway. Three lines branch out from Dum Dum in the north direction–the Kolkata Eastern line to Gede, the Calcutta chord line to Dankuni and the Sealdah–Hasnabad–Bangaon–Ranaghat line to Bangaon and Hasnabad. On the other hand, in the south direction, those three lines go towards Sealdah, while the Kolkata Circular Railway line arises from it towards Patipukur, and also ends to it through Bidhannagar Road after encircling the city of Kolkata through various important stations like Kolkata railway station and Majerhat. The Dum Dum metro station of the Blue line is adjacent to Dum Dum railway station. It serves Cossipore, Sinthee, Baranagar and Dum Dum areas.
The Chennai Central – Bangalore City line is an electrified railway double line which connects the cities of Chennai and Bengaluru in South India.
The Chennai Egmore–Thanjavur main line connects Chennai Egmore and Thanjavur Junction both in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. The Chennai Egmore–Thanjavur main line is part of Chennai–Viluppuram–Chidambaram-Mayiladuthurai–Kumbakonam–Thanjavur–Tiruchirappalli line. The line connects the Kaveri delta to Chennai.
Sasaram Junction railway station is on the Gaya–Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Junction section of the Grand Chord line in India. It serves Sasaram and the surrounding areas in Rohtas district in the Indian state of Bihar. Sasaram is well connected to Delhi and Kolkata. It is also connected to Patna via Ara railway station.
Sealdah railway division is one of the four railway divisions under the Eastern Railway zone of the Indian Railways. Its headquarters is located in Kaiser Street in Kolkata, West Bengal near the Sealdah railway station. Geographically the division covers the railway tracks and services in the areas between the Hooghly river on the west, Bangladesh on the north and east and the Sundarbans in the south. The Railway network under Sealdah Division was part of the Eastern Bengal Railway. The Eastern Bengal Railway was formed on 1st July, 1884. On 1st January, 1942, Assam Bengal Railway and Eastern Bengal Railway were amalgamated to form Bengal Assam Railway. Sealdah Division became a part of East Indian Railway on 15th August, 1947, after the Partition of India and Partition of Bengal. The East Indian Railway was formed on 1st June, 1845. On 14th April, 1952, East Indian Railway was renamed as Eastern Railway.

Nabadwip Dham railway station is a railway station on Bandel–Katwa line connecting from Bandel to Katwa, and under the jurisdiction of Howrah railway division of Eastern Railway zone.
