Ammonoidea Extinct subclass of cephalopod molluscs

Ammonoids are a group of extinct marine mollusc animals in the subclass Ammonoidea of the class Cephalopoda. These molluscs, commonly referred to as ammonites, are more closely related to living coleoids than they are to shelled nautiloids such as the living Nautilus species. The earliest ammonites appeared during the Devonian, and the last species either vanished in the Cretaceous–Paleogene extinction event, or shortly after, during the Danian epoch of the Paleocene.

Early Triassic First of three epochs of the Triassic Period

The Early Triassic is the first of three epochs of the Triassic Period of the geologic timescale. It spans the time between 251.902 Ma and 247.2 Ma. Rocks from this epoch are collectively known as the Lower Triassic Series, which is a unit in chronostratigraphy.

Arcestes is a genus of extinct ceratitid ammonites found in Triassic-aged marine strata.

Ceratites Genus of molluscs (fossil)

Ceratites is an extinct genus of ammonite cephalopods. These nektonic carnivores lived in marine habitats in what is now Europe, during the Triassic, from the upper-most Anisian to the lower Ladinian age.

Clymeniida Extinct order of molluscs

Clymeniida is an order of ammonoid cephalopods from the Upper Devonian characterized by having an unusual dorsal siphuncle. They measured about 4 cm (1.6 in) in diameter and are restricted to Europe, North Africa, and possibly Australia.

Gymnites is a genus of ammonoid cephalopod from the Middle Triassic belonging to the ceratitid family Gymnitidae. These nektonic carnivores lived during the Triassic period, Anisian age.

Episageceratinae is a subfamily of the Medlicottiidae, a family of prolecanitid ammonites. The Episageceratinae, proposed by Ruzhencev, 1956, is based on the genus Episageceras previously included in the subfamily Medlicottiinae and lived during Late Permian and Early Triassic times. So far only three confirmed genera are included: Episageceras, Latisageceras, and Nodosageceras.
