Launched as MACIF - FRA 301 the yacht is an IMOCA 60 monohull sailing yacht, designed by Guillaume Verdier and VPLP [1] and constructed by Green Marine [2] in the United Kingdom and CDK Technologies in France. [3]

Names and Ownership

MACIF (2011-2014)

The boat was commissioned for François Gabart to compete in 2012–2013 Vendée Globe.

SMA (2012-2018)

In 2015 the boat was put into partnership with Paul Meilhat and rebranded as SMA with the intention to compete in 2016-2017 Vendée Globe

Banque Populaire X (2019-2021)

In 2019 the boat was purchased by Banque Populaire Sailing Team who had sold there race winning boat but decided to back French offshore sailor Clarisse Cremer in her attempt to complete the 2020-2021 Vendée Globe.

The first around the world sailing record for circumnavigation of the world was Juan Sebastián Elcano and the remaining members of Ferdinand Magellan's crew who completed their journey in 1522. The first solo record was set by Joshua Slocum in the Spray (1898).

VPLP design is a French-based naval architectural firm founded by Marc Van Peteghem and Vincent Lauriot-Prévost, responsible for designing some of the world's most innovative racing boats. Their designs presently hold many of the World Speed Sailing records.

In 2017 he set the speed record for sailing around the globe in 42 days 16 hours 40 minutes and 35 seconds finishing on 17 December. He was sailing singlehanded in the 30 metre Trimaran Macif.

Gitana 16, her name when launched, is an IMOCA 60 monohull sailing yacht, designed by VPLP and Guillaume Verdier and constructed by Multiplast in France. She was later known as Malizia II. The yacht's hull has a tumblehome shape and is equipped with foils, which were upgraded in 2016 and again in 2020. The boat was commissioned for the Gitana Sailing Team founded by Benjamin de Rothschild. Her first skipper was Sébastien Josse who was later replaced by Boris Herrmann. The yacht does not use any fossil fuel for power. In 2019, solar panels with an output of 1.3kw were installed, and power is also generated by two hydro-electric generators at the stern that can be raised and lowered as needed.

The IMOCA 60 Class yacht Apivia Mutuelle, FRA 79 was designed by Guillaume Verdier and launched in 2019 after being built CDK Technologies based in Lorient, France. The boat initial skipper who is also a Naval Architect Charlie Dalin had significant input as did MerConcept the company headed by François Gabart.

CDK Technologies is a boat building company now located in Lorient (France) with a primary site in marine hub of Port-la-Forêt. It was founded in 1984, it specializes in the construction of prototype sailboats for offshore racing.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">IMOCA 60 Biotherm</span>

Biotherm, is an IMOCA 60 monohull sailing yacht, designed by Guillaume Verdier and constructed by Persico Marine in Italy, launched on 31 August 2022. It is designed for the Vendée Globe 2024, a solo tour of the world. Its skipper is the French Paul Meilhat.
