IndiaOne Air is an Indian regional airline based in Ahmedabad. The airline began operations in August 2022 with a focus on providing regional connectivity between tier 2 and 3 cities in India. It is the first scheduled airline in India to operate single-engine aircraft. [1] [2]

History

IndiaOne Air received its No Objection Certificate from the Ministry of Civil Aviation in 2020, but due to COVID-19 pandemic, the launch was delayed. [3] In April 2022, the airline inducted it first brand new aircraft. The proving flight was performed on 22 June 2022 and the air operator's certificate was granted to the airline on 24 June 2022. [4] IndiaOne Air launched trial flights from Bhubaneswar to Jeypore on 3 August 2022. [5] The airline commenced scheduled flight on 31 October 2022 from Bhubaneswar to Jeypore. This scheduled flight was the first flight to Jeypore since Indian Independence in 1947. [6] [7]

Vayudoot was a regional airline in India established on 20 January 1981 as a joint venture between the two state-owned carriers, Indian Airlines and Air India. The airline was headquartered at New Delhi's Safdarjung Airport. The airline was originally conceived to serve Northeast India. The regional hub for the region was Calcutta and the airline flew to close to 30 destinations in this challenging area. Many of the airfields saw the resumption of commercial flights and fixed-wing aircraft after many decades of their absence.

Rourkela Airport is a domestic airport serving Rourkela, Odisha, India. It is located near Chhend Colony, 6 km (3.7 mi) west of the city centre. The airport is capable of handling ATR-72 type aircraft, an apron for parking of two aircraft at a time and a general aviation terminal. The license for commercial usage of the airport was issued in January 2019. The airport upgradation project was taken up by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) at a cost of ₹ 64.24 crore. It involved expansion of the runway from 1,765 m to 1,930 m to handle larger aircraft, like the ATR-72 and De Havilland 8-400 aircraft, construction of a new apron, a parallel taxiway to the runway, a new passenger terminal building and a perimeter wall. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) granted licence to Rourkela Airport for public use on 19 December 2022. The airport was upgraded from 2B to 2C category type. Commercial operations to Rourkela began from 7 January 2023, with direct flights provided by Alliance Air to Bhubaneswar and to Kolkata from 1 September 2023.

Sonari Airport, also known as Jamshedpur Airport, is a domestic airport in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, India, owned by Tata Steel. It is located approximately 4.4 km (2.7 mi) from the city centre. It is the main airport serving the city of Jamshedpur and adjoining regions. The airport was in commercial operations until 2016, when the operations from the airport was ceased. After efforts taken by the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of Jharkhand and Tata Steel, The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) granted licence to the airport for public use on 25 January 2023. It reopened for commercial operations between Kolkata and Bhubaneswar from 31 January 2023.

Jeypore Airport, also known as Jayapur Airport, is a domestic airport serving the cities of Jeypore and Koraput in Odisha, India. It is located 3 km (1.9 mi) north-west of the city of Jeypore in Koraput district. The airstrip was constructed in 1962 along with the establishment of a Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) factory nearby at Sunabeda. In the 1980s, Vayudoot operated a daily Bhubaneswar-bound flight via Visakhapatnam. Now, the new low-cost regional airline, IndiaOne Air, operates from the airport to Bhubaneswar and Vishakapatnam.

Utkela Airport is a domestic airport owned by the Government of Odisha located at Utkela in Kalahandi district, Odisha, India. It is situated 15 km (9.3 mi) north of Bhawanipatna. The airport has been designated to be developed as a regional airport under the government's UDAN Scheme.

North East Shuttles was an Indian charter airline based in the city of Kolkata, West Bengal. It was founded in 2006 and began operations in 2011 with two aircraft to serve regional routes in the North East, West Bengal and Jharkhand. The airline had planned to expand to Uttar Pradesh, but operations never began. By July 2019, the airline had ceased operations.

Malkangiri Airport is a domestic airport serving the city of Malkangiri in the state of Odisha, India. It is owned by the Government of Odisha, and is operated by the Airports Authority of India (AAI). It is located at Nilimari, 8 km (5.0 mi) south-east from the city centre. The airport has been developed as a regional airport under the government's UDAN Scheme.
