India is one of the full members of the International Cricket Council (ICC), the governing body of cricket. The ICC Men's T20 World Cup has been hosted by the ICC in the T20I format since 2007. There have been nine editions of the tournament and India has participated in every edition. India have won it twice in 2007 and 2024 while also finishing as runners-up in 2014. [3] India won the 2024 World T20 without being defeated in the tournament, thus becoming the first team to do so. [4]

The Cricket World Cup is the international championship of One Day International (ODI) cricket. The event is organised by the sport's governing body, the International Cricket Council (ICC), every four years, with preliminary qualification rounds leading up to a finals tournament. The tournament is one of the world's most viewed sporting events and considered as the "flagship event of the international cricket calendar" by the ICC. It is widely considered the pinnacle championship of the sport of cricket.

Andre Dwayne Russell, also called Dre Russ, is a Jamaican cricketer who has played international cricket for West Indies and for Jamaica in domestic cricket as an all-rounder. He currently plays in various T20 leagues around the world. Russell was part of 2012 and 2016 ICC World T20 winning West Indies teams. He has played in more than 300 T20 matches for a range of sides in leagues.

Hashmatullah Shahidi is an Afghan cricketer and currently the captain of Afghanistan national cricket team in One Day International (ODI) and Test cricket. Heinrich Klaasen is a South African cricketer who plays for the South African national cricket team in limited overs cricket. He was included in the Northerns cricket team for the 2015 Africa T20 Cup. In February 2021, Klaasen captained South Africa for the first time in a T20I match. On 21 March 2023, in a match against West Indies, Klaasen scored his second ODI century in 54 balls. Deepti Bhagwan Sharma is an Indian cricketer who plays for Bengal, Birmingham Phoenix and India. She is an all-rounder who bats left-handed and bowls right-arm off break. As of 2018, she was ranked 3rd in the top all-rounders in the ICC Cricket Rankings and had the third highest individual score by a female cricketer in ODIs.
Alzarri Shaheim Joseph is an Antiguan cricketer who plays for the West Indies in Tests and ODIs. A right-arm fast bowler, he plays for Leeward Islands and the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in West Indian domestic cricket. Arshdeep Singh Aulakh is an Indian professional cricketer who plays for the India national cricket team. In Indian domestic cricket, he plays for Punjab and for Punjab Kings in the Indian Premier League. Arshdeep is a left-arm medium-fast bowler and left-handed lower order batter. He was an integral member of the Indian team that won the 2024 T20 World Cup, and was the leading wicket taker of the tournament.
The 2023 ICC Under-19 Women's T20 World Cup was the first edition of the Under-19 Women's T20 World Cup, hosted by South Africa in 2023. The tournament was moved from its original slot at the end of 2021 to January 2023 because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Sixteen teams competed in the tournament, initially divided into four groups.

The 2024 ICC Men's T20 World Cup was the ninth edition of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup tournament. Twenty teams took part in the tournament. It was co-hosted by the West Indies and the United States from 1 to 29 June 2024. The final date for each squad submission was 1 May 2024, and the teams were allowed to make changes to their squads within 25 May 2024. The following squads were announced for the tournament.
