Jane Christina Flemming OAM (born 14 April 1965) is an Australian former Olympic track and field athlete. She completed her HSC in 1982 at Mater Christi College, Belgrave. She was the 1990 Commonwealth Games champion at heptathlon and long jump and also represented Australia internationally at 100 m hurdles.
Flemming started her athletics career competing for the Fairpark Little Athletics Club at the Knox Little Athletics Centre.
In Australian National Championships, she won thirteen open titles at heptathlon (5), 100 m hurdles (5), 100 m (2) and 100 y (1) events. She was named the Australian female athlete of the year in 1993.
A two-time Olympian, she also competed at the 1986, 1990 and 1994 Commonwealth Games. Her highest score in the heptathlon - 6695 points - set winning the 1990 Commonwealth gold medal still stands as the Australian and Commonwealth Games record at February 2016.

In Auckland, Flemming also won the long jump gold medal, with a career best of 6.78 m.
Her best performance at the Olympic Games was 7th in Seoul 1988. Flemming also placed 7th at the 1993 World Athletics Championships.
At the Ulster Games in Belfast on 30 June 1986 Flemming, on request of Australian team manager Maurie Plant, provided a urine sample to allow another athlete, Sue Howland, to use Flemming's urine pass a drug test. The Australian Senate report into drugs in sport (known as the "Black" report after Senator John Black) later gave Jane Flemming an official warning, and also banned Maurie Plant from managing any athletes in the future. After retiring from international competition, Flemming has worked as an athletics commentator in Australia for the Seven Network and SBS Television. She has also represented British Olympians Sebastian Coe and Daley Thompson, USA Olympian Michael Johnson and other athletes as a business manager, working in both Australia and Great Britain.
In 2006, Flemming was a commentator on Nine Network's coverage of the 2006 Commonwealth Games, and also appeared on a celebrity special of Temptation .
Awarded the Order of Australia on 26 January 2014 for services to athletics and to the community.
in 2013, Flemming helped Live Life Get Active, a private social initiative that offers free health, fitness and nutritional education online and in local parks around Australia with the help of local governments and corporations.

Flemming is married to Ian Purchas and has twin boys. Jimminy Crickets and Sammo purcho.
Jacqueline Joyner-Kersee is a retired American track and field athlete, ranked among the all-time greats in the heptathlon as well as long jump. She won three gold, one silver, and two bronze Olympic medals in those two events at four different Olympic Games. Sports Illustrated for Women magazine voted Joyner-Kersee the Greatest Female Athlete of All-Time. She served on the board of directors for USA Track & Field (U.S.A.T.F.), the national governing body of the sport.
Glynis Leanne Nunn-Cearns, OAM is a former Australian heptathlete, the first Olympic champion in the event. Born in Toowoomba, Queensland, she began competing in athletics at age 9, when she was a student at Toowoomba South State School.
Sally Jane Janet Gunnell is a British former track-and-field athlete, active between 1984 and 1997, who won the 1992 Olympic gold medal in the 400 metres hurdles. During a golden 24-month period between 1992 and 1994, Gunnell won every international event open to her, claiming Olympic Games, World Championship, European Championship, Commonwealth Games, Goodwill Games, IAAF World Cup and European Cup golds in the event, and breaking the British, European and World records in it. She is the only female British athlete to have won all four 'majors'; Olympic, World, European and Commonwealth titles, and was the first female 400 metres hurdler in history to win the Olympic and World titles and break the world record. Her former world record time of 52.74 secs in 1993, still ranks in the world all-time top ten and is the current British record. She was named World and European Female Athlete of the Year in 1993, and was made an MBE in 1993 and an OBE in 1998.
Theresa Ione Sanderson is a British former javelin thrower. She appeared in every Summer Olympics from 1976 to 1996, winning the gold medal in the javelin throw at the 1984 Olympics. She was the second track and field athlete to compete at six Olympics, and the first Black British woman to win an Olympic gold medal.
Dame Jessica Ennis-Hill is a retired British track and field athlete from England, specialising in the heptathlon and 100 metres hurdles. As a competitor in heptathlon, she is the 2012 Olympic champion, a three-time world champion, and the 2010 European champion. She is also the 2010 World Indoor pentathlon champion. A member of the City of Sheffield & Dearne athletic club, she is a former British national record holder for the heptathlon. She is also a former British record holder in the 100 metres hurdles, the high jump and the indoor pentathlon.
Jean Catherine Pickering was a female track and field athlete from Great Britain, who competed mainly in the 80 metres hurdles and long jump.
Clova E. Court is a retired English athlete, who competed mainly in the heptathlon and the 100 metres hurdles. She represented Great Britain in the heptathlon at the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona. She won a record five AAA Championships heptathlon tiles, and also won the 1994 AAAs Championship 100 metres hurdles title, defeating Sally Gunnell.
Zita Ajkler is a Hungarian long jumper. She is a 16-time Hungarian national champion in the long jump, triple jump, heptathlon, and 100-meter hurdles. Her personal best is 676 cm in the long jump and 13.99 m in the triple jump ; 13.75 s in 100-meter hurdles (wind-1.2), 8.35 s in 60-meter hurdles, and 5,323 points in the heptathlon.
The Maurie Plant Meet – Melbourne is an annual outdoor track and field meeting which takes place in February at the Lakeside Stadium in Melbourne, Australia since 2023. Last held under the old name, Melbourne Track Classic, in early March 2016, prior to 2012 the meeting was held at the Olympic Park Stadium.
Sue Howland is an Australian javelin thrower whose best result was a gold medal at the 1982 Commonwealth Games. Howland won the Australian Junior Javelin throw in 1977 and 1978. Her international career began in 1981 with the Pacific Conference Games and continued to the 1992 IAAF World Cup.
Morgan Lake is a British high jumper. She won the silver medal at the 2018 Commonwealth Games and placed fourth at the 2022 Commonwealth Games. Lake finished sixth in the 2017 World Championships in Athletics and fourth in the 2018 World Indoor Championships.
Janieve Russell is a Jamaican track and field athlete who competes mainly in the 400 metres hurdles and the 400 metres sprint. She won an Olympic bronze medal in the 4 × 400 m relay in Tokyo 2021, where she also finished fourth in the 400m hurdles final in a personal best of 53.08 secs. She is a four-time Commonwealth Games gold medallist, winning the 400m hurdles title in 2018 and 2022, and the 4 × 400 m relay in 2014 and 2018. Salcia Venecia Slack is a Jamaican athlete who specialises in the heptathlon. She represented her country at the 2015 World Championships in Beijing without finishing the competition. Her biggest success to date is the fifth place at the 2014 Commonwealth Games.
Maria Lambrou, also known by her married name Maroula Lambrou-Teloni, is a Greek-Cypriot athlete, best known as a long jumper. Lambrou is regarded by many as the greatest female athlete in Cypriot sports. Her personal best of 6.80 m in the long jump, achieved on 24 May 1985 and personal best of 5319 points in heptathlon achieved on 3–4 September 1984 in Cyprus, are the national records.
Selloane Joyce Tsoaeli is a female track and field athlete from Lesotho who competes in the heptathlon and the high jump. She was the high jump gold medallist at the 2010 African Championships in Athletics and was a heptathlon bronze medallist at the same event. She also took heptathlon bronze at the 2011 All-Africa Games.
Katy Louise Sealy is a Belizean international athlete. She was brought up in Suffolk in England but qualifies for Belize because her father was born there. She lived in Bawdsey.
Holly Mills is an English long jumper and heptathlete. She finished fourth both in the pentathlon at the 2022 World Indoor Championships and in the heptathlon at the 2022 Commonwealth Games. Mills won bronze medals for the heptathlon at the 2021 European Under-23 Championships and for the long jump at the 2019 European U20 Championships.
Anne-Marie Pira is a retired Belgian heptathlete who excelled in the hurdles and jumping events.
The 1978 UK Athletics Championships was the national championship in outdoor track and field for the United Kingdom held at Meadowbank Stadium, Edinburgh.
