The Japan national Baseball5 team represents Japan in international Baseball5 competitions.
In January 2019, the Baseball Federation of Japan held a baseball5 seminar in Tokyo, with the goal of promoting the sport in Japan, specially among the kids, youth and high school and university students. [2]
Japan participated in the inaugural Baseball5 Asia Cup in Kuala Lumpur, where the team finished second after losing to Chinese Taipei 1 match to 2. [3]
Japan qualified for the 2022 Baseball5 World Cup, held in Mexico City. The Japanese team finished second with a 6–3 record after losing the final against Cuba 2 matches to 0. [4]
Japan won the 2024 Baseball5 Asia Cup, held in Seoul, South Korea, to claim their first Asian title. The team finished the tournament undefeated with a 6–0 record and defeated Chinese Taipei 2 sets to 1 in the final game, to win the gold medal. [5]

The Japan national baseball team, also known as Samurai Japan (侍ジャパン), is the national team representing Japan in international baseball competitions. It won the World Baseball Classic in 2006, 2009, and 2023 as well as WBSC Premier12 in 2019. The team is currently ranked 1st in the world by the World Baseball Softball Confederation and is a baseball powerhouse.
The Chinese Taipei national baseball team is the national men's baseball team of Taiwan. It is governed by the Chinese Taipei Baseball Association. The team is ranked fourth in the world by the World Baseball Softball Confederation. The team is usually made up of professionals from Taiwan's Chinese Professional Baseball League, Japan's Nippon Professional Baseball, and Major League Baseball and Minor League Baseball from the United States.
The World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) is the world governing body for the sports of baseball, softball, and Baseball5. It was established in 2013 by the merger of the International Baseball Federation (IBAF) and International Softball Federation (ISF). Under the WBSC's organizational structure, the IBAF and ISF serve as the confederation's baseball and softball divisions, respectively. Each division is governed by an executive committee, while the WBSC is governed by an executive board.
The WBSC Premier12 is the international baseball tournament organized by the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC), featuring the 12 highest-ranked national baseball teams in the world. The first tournament was held by Taiwan and Japan in November 2015. The second tournament, 2019 WBSC Premier12, was held in November 2019, and served as a qualifier for two teams for baseball at the 2020 Summer Olympics.

The 2024 Baseball5 Asia Cup was the second edition of the Baseball5 Asia Cup, a Baseball5 tournament organized by WBSC Asia. The championship was held from 13 to 16 April 2024, in the Olympic Park in Seoul, South Korea and was contested between eight national teams.
