The League of Legends Challenger Series (CS) were two professional League of Legends leagues, one in Europe (EU CS) and one in North America (NA CS), that were the second highest level of professional League of Legends in those regions. The two highest-placing teams from the Challenger Series played in the League of Legends Promotion Tournament against the two lowest-placing League of Legends Championship Series (LCS) teams, the winners of which were promoted to the Championship Series in each region, whereas the losers were relegated to the Challenger Series. [1] The league was announced in December 2013 and began play for the Spring 2014 season. [2] Both the NA and EU CS were discontinued in 2018 in preparation for league franchising.
The Red Bulls were a professional League of Legends esports team created by Red Bull, which competed in the European League of Legends Challenger Series, the second highest level of professional League of Legends in Europe.
Marcus Hill, better known as Dyrus, is an American Twitch streamer and former professional player of the multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) game League of Legends. Dyrus was the top laner for Team SoloMid (TSM) for most of his professional League of Legends career. With TSM, he won several LCS titles and appeared at several World Championships. He retired from professional play after the 2015 World Championship, although he briefly returned to play in 2017.
Team Curse, also known as Curse eSports, was a North American esports organization sponsored by Curse, Inc. and based in Los Angeles. Formed as a League of Legends team in 2010 by Steve "LiQuiD112" Arhancet, it was acquired by Curse Inc. in August 2011, and the team renamed to Team Curse. On April 15, 2014, Arhancet announced that he had purchased the esports arm of the Curse Inc., which from then on was an organization entire separated from Curse, Inc., although they were still the title sponsor of the new Curse eSports brand.
The League Championship Series (LCS) is the top level of professional League of Legends in the United States and Canada. The esports league is run by Riot Games and has ten franchise teams. Each annual season of competition is divided into two splits, spring and summer, which conclude with a double-elimination tournament between the top eight teams. At the end of the season, the winner, runners-up and third-place team of the summer playoffs qualify for the annual League of Legends World Championship.
Team SoloMid (TSM), officially TSM FTX, is a professional esports organization based in the United States. It was founded in September 2009 by Andy "Reginald" Dinh. TSM currently fields players in League of Legends, Dota 2, Apex Legends, Valorant, Hearthstone, Super Smash Bros., Fortnite, PUBG Mobile, Battlegrounds Mobile India, Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege, Magic: The Gathering Arena, and chess. The organization previously had a Counter-Strike: Global Offensive team based in Denmark that later became Astralis and also briefly owned an Overwatch team.
Counter Logic Gaming (CLG) is an American esports organization headquartered in Los Angeles, California. It was founded in April 2010 by George "HotshotGG" Georgallidis and Alexander "Vodoo" Beutel as a League of Legends team, and has since branched out into other games.
Lâm Du Hải, better known mononymously as Hai, is an American former professional League of Legends player. He previously played mid lane for the Golden Guardians of the North American League of Legends Championship Series. Hai rose to prominence as the mid laner for Cloud9 (C9), leading them to two NA LCS championships. During a brief retirement due to health issues in 2015, Hai functioned as the Chief Gaming Officer (CGO) of Cloud9. Hai returned to the lineup of Cloud9 as their jungler and support to fill in for the split playoffs. He later became the mid laner for Cloud9 Challenger, which qualified for the LCS and was bought and rebranded as FlyQuest. Hai has won two NA LCS splits with Cloud9, as well as the NA LCS Promotion Tournament with Cloud9 Challenger. He is well known for his shotcalling within the game.
Enrique Cedeño Martinez, better known by his in-game name xPeke, is a retired professional League of Legends player. He was the founder and owner of Origen, which competed in the LEC, the top level of professional League of Legends in Europe. Martinez is best known for his spell with Fnatic, with whom he has won three League of Legends Championship Series Europe titles and the Season 1 World Championship.
Henrik Hansen, better known by his in-game name Froggen, is a Danish professional League of Legends player. He is currently signed with Luminosity Gaming as a streamer. Over the course of his career he has also played for CLG.EU, Evil Geniuses, Alliance, Elements, Origen, Echo Fox, the Golden Guardians and Dignitas. Anivia is considered his signature champion.

Each annual season of play is divided into two splits, spring and summer, both consisting of nine weeks of round-robin tournament play, which then conclude with play-off tournaments between the top six teams. At the end of the season, the top performing teams qualify for the annual League of Legends World Championship. The LEC represents the highest level of League of Legends play in Europe.
