Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is a 2018 American animated superhero film produced by Columbia Pictures and Sony Pictures Animation in association with Marvel Entertainment, and distributed by Sony Pictures Releasing. It was directed by Bob Persichetti, Peter Ramsey, and Rodney Rothman based on a screenplay by Phil Lord and Rothman. [1] The film is set in a shared multiverse called the Spider-Verse and focuses on Miles Morales (voiced by Shameik Moore), an Afro-Latino teenager who teams up with other Spider-Men from alternate universes to save New York City from the supervillain Kingpin (voiced by Liev Schreiber). [2] It also features the voices of Mahershala Ali, Nicolas Cage, Brian Tyree Henry, Jake Johnson, John Mulaney, and Hailee Steinfeld. [3] It is the first animated feature film in the Spider-Man franchise. [4]
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse premiered in Los Angeles on December 1, 2018, and was released in the United States on December 14. [5] [6] Produced on a budget of $90 million, Into the Spider-Verse grossed $384.3 million worldwide. [6] On the review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, the film holds an approval rating of 97% based on 403 reviews. [7]
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse garnered awards and nominations in various categories. At the 91st Academy Awards, the film won Best Animated Feature. It also won the Golden Globe Award for Best Animated Feature Film, and the BAFTA Award for Best Animated Film. At the 46th Annie Awards, it received seven nominations, including Best Animated Feature and Best Writing in a Feature Production, and won in all its categories. Various critic circles also picked Into the Spider-Verse as the best animated feature film of the year.

Danielle Brittany Brooks is an American actress. She is best known for her role as prison inmate Tasha "Taystee" Jefferson on the Netflix comedy-drama series Orange Is the New Black (2013–2019). Kemp Powers is an American playwright, screenwriter, and director. He is best known for his play One Night in Miami and the 2020 film adaptation of the same name, as well as for co-directing the animated films Soul (2020) and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (2023). Past Lives is a 2023 American romantic drama film written and directed by Celine Song in her feature directorial debut.
