This is a list of comedy anime television series, films, OVAs and ONAs. While not all inclusive, this list contains numerous works that are representative of the genre.
Ranma ½ is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Rumiko Takahashi. It was serialized in Weekly Shōnen Sunday from August 1987 to March 1996, with the chapters collected in 38 tankōbon volumes by Shogakukan. The story revolves around a teenager named Ranma Saotome who has trained in martial arts since early childhood. As a result of falling into a cursed Chinese spring during a training journey, he has the ability to have an instant sex change when getting wet, becoming a girl when exposed to cold water, and likewise changing back into a boy when touching hot water. Throughout the series Ranma seeks out a way to rid himself of his curse, while his friends, enemies, and many fiancées constantly hinder and interfere.
Rumiko Takahashi is a Japanese manga artist. With a career of several commercially successful works, beginning with Urusei Yatsura in 1978, she is one of Japan's best-known and wealthiest manga artists. Her works are known worldwide, where they have been translated into a variety of languages, with over 200 million copies in circulation; making Takahashi one of the best-selling authors of all time. She has won the Shogakukan Manga Award twice, once in 1980 for Urusei Yatsura and again in 2001 for Inuyasha, and the Seiun Award twice, once in 1987 for Urusei Yatsura and again in 1989 for Mermaid Saga. She also received the Grand Prix de la ville d'Angoulême in 2019, becoming the second woman and second Japanese to win the prize. In 2020, the Japanese government awarded Takahashi the Medal with Purple Ribbon for her contributions to the arts.
Mitsuo Yamaguchi, better known by his stage name Kappei Yamaguchi, is a Japanese actor, voice actor, and rakugoka affiliated with Gokū and 21st Century Fox. After making his voice acting debut in 1989 as the male version of Ranma Saotome in Ranma ½, Yamaguchi went on to other notable roles, including Inuyasha in Inuyasha and its sequel Yashahime, and L in Death Note. He currently voices Shinichi Kudo and Kaito Kid in Detective Conan, Usopp in One Piece and Teddie in Persona 4. He is married and has a son, Ryunosuke, and a daughter, Akane. Ryunosuke and Akane are also voice actors, while the latter is also a rakugoka.
Kitty Films was a production company established in 1972 in Japan. They were a pioneer in releasing full anime television series in a single set. The sound recording work by Ken'ichi Benitani on their 1979 film, Almost Transparent Blue, was co-nominated for Outstanding Achievement in Sound Recording at the 3rd Japan Academy Film Prize ceremony in 1980.
Hana no Asuka-gumi! is a Japanese manga by Satosumi Takaguchi serialized in Monthly Asuka. It was adapted into a television drama series, two live action films, two OVAs and two drama CDs. It is one of the series with delinquent girls (sukeban) popular in the 1980s. Two new manga series were published, one from 2003 to 2009 and the other from 2007 to 2008.

Kento Yamazaki is a Japanese actor and model. He is best known for his roles in the films L DK (2014), No Longer Heroine (2015), Orange (2015), and Kingdom (2019), as well as the TV shows Death Note (2015), Kiss That Kills (2018), Good Doctor (2018), and the Netflix series Alice in Borderland (2020–present). He is under the Japanese talent agency Stardust Promotion.
Minami no Teiō is a Japanese manga series written by Dai Tennōji and illustrated Rikiya Gō. It has been serialized in Nihon Bungeisha's Weekly Manga Goraku since 1992. It is one of the longest manga series, with 178 volumes published by August 2024. It has been adapted into several live-action films, including original videos and two television films and also into two original video animations.
Tao Tsuchiya is a Japanese actress. She is best known for her memorable role of Makimachi Misao in the movie series Rurouni Kenshin, as Mai Nakahara in The 8-Year Engagement, Koharu in The Cinderella Addiction and most recently as Yuzuha Usagi in Netflix's Alice in Borderland. Her older sister, Honoka, works as a model, while her younger brother, Shimba Tsuchiya, is also an actor.
