Sri Lanka, officially the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, is an island country in South Asia, located in the Indian Ocean to the southwest of the Bay of Bengal and to the southeast of the Arabian Sea. The island is geographically separated from the Indian subcontinent by the Gulf of Mannar and the Palk Strait. The legislative capital, Sri Jayawardenepura Kotte, is a suburb of the commercial capital and largest city, Colombo.
Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) was first registered with the Ministry of Sports on 30 June 1975 as a national sports body. Initially named Board of Cricket for Sri Lanka (BCCSL), it was renamed Sri Lanka Cricket in 2003. The SLC is thus the apex national body for the administration and development of cricket in Sri Lanka, including management of the Sri Lanka national cricket team.

[3] Mahela Jayawardene also holds the record for most Test centuries at the ground with 11. The highest score by an overseas player is 221 made by Brian Lara in 2001. [4]
