Adele's 21 was the longest-running number-one album of 2012, topping the ARIA Albums Chart for nine weeks.

The ARIA Albums Chart ranks the best-performing albums and extended plays in Australia. Its data, published by the Australian Recording Industry Association, is based collectively on each album and EP's weekly physical and digital sales. [2] In 2012, twenty-two albums claimed the top spot, including Adele's 21 and Michael Bublé's Christmas , both of which started their peak positions in 2011. Ten acts achieved their first number-one album in Australia: Foster the People, Lana Del Rey, One Direction, Keith Urban, The Temper Trap, John Mayer, Karise Eden, Ed Sheeran, Birdy and The Amity Affliction. One Direction earned two number-one albums during the year for Up All Night and Take Me Home . Taylor Swift's Red topped the charts for three consecutive weeks becoming her second number-one album on the chart. 21 was the longest-running number-one album of 2012, having topped the ARIA Albums Chart for nine weeks. [1] Eden's My Journey topped the chart for six consecutive weeks, while Michael Bublé's Christmas, One Direction's Up All Night and Pink's The Truth About Love each spent five weeks at the number-one spot.

The Temper Trap Australian band

The Temper Trap are an Australian indie rock band formed in 2005 by Dougy Mandagi, Jonathon Aherne, and Toby Dundas. In 2008, the group relocated from Melbourne to London. The band released their debut album Conditions in June 2009 to favourable reviews and commercial success; it peaked at No. 9 on the ARIA Albums Chart and into the top 30 on the UK Albums Chart. Its lead single, "Sweet Disposition", peaked in the top 10 on the Belgian, Irish and UK Singles Charts and reached No. 14 on the ARIA Singles Chart. At the ARIA Music Awards of 2010 in November, The Temper Trap won Best Group and Most Popular Australian Single for "Sweet Disposition". Their eponymous second album was released in late May/early June 2012 under Liberation Music (AUS), Infectious Records (UK) and Glassnote Records (US). The album won the band Best Rock Album, and they also won Best Group at the 2012 ARIA Awards. In October 2013 guitarist Lorenzo Sillitto left the band, during the recording of the third album.

Karise Eden is an Australian singer and songwriter. In 2012, she became the winner of the first series of The Voice Australia. Eden subsequently signed with Universal Music Australia and released her debut single "You Won't Let Me". It was one of the four songs recorded by Eden that entered the ARIA Singles Chart top five during the week of 25 June 2012. She became the first artist to achieve this feat since The Beatles, who held the top six positions of the chart in 1964. Eden's debut studio album My Journey was released on 26 June 2012, which contained songs she performed on The Voice, as well as newly recorded covers. The album debuted at number one on the ARIA Albums Chart and was certified double platinum.

My Journey is the debut studio album by Australian singer and songwriter Karise Eden, who won the first season of The Voice Australia. It was released on 26 June 2012 by Universal Music Australia. The album debuted at number one on the ARIA Albums Chart and was certified double platinum by the Australian Recording Industry Association for shipments of more than 140,000 copies.

The Voice Australia is an Australian reality talent show based on the original Dutch version of the program created by John de Mol and is part of a wider international franchise. The winner receives a Universal Music Australia recording contract. Karise Eden was the winner of the first season. Her debut single, "You Won't Let Me", peaked at number five on the Australian ARIA Singles Chart, and her debut album My Journey reached number one on the ARIA Albums Chart. Eden's second single, "Threads of Silence", peaked at number 19. The winner of the second season was Harrison Craig. His debut single, "Unconditional", charted at number 15 in Australia. This Could Be Heartbreak is the fifth studio album by Australian metalcore band the Amity Affliction. The album was released through Roadrunner Records on 12 August 2016. It is the first album without guitarist and founding member Troy Brady, following his departure in 2014. It is also the last album to feature drummer Ryan Burt after his departure in early 2018.

The ARIA Digital Album Chart ranks the highest selling legally downloaded music albums within Australia and is provided by the Australian Recording Industry Association.
