The World Federation of Trade Unions (WFTU) is an international federation of trade unions. WFTU was established in 1945 to replace the International Federation of Trade Unions. Its mission was to bring together trade unions across the world in a single international organization, much like the United Nations. After a number of Western trade unions left it in 1949, as a result of disputes over support for the Marshall Plan, to form the International Confederation of Free Trade Unions, the WFTU was made up primarily of unions affiliated with or sympathetic to communist parties. In the context of the Cold War, the WFTU was often portrayed as a Soviet front organization. A number of those unions, including those from Yugoslavia and China, left later when their governments had ideological differences with the Soviet Union.

The Workers' Commissions since the 1970s has become the largest trade union in Spain. It has more than one million members, and is the most successful union in labor elections, competing with the Unión General de Trabajadores (UGT), and with the anarcho-syndicalist Confederación General del Trabajo (CGT), which is usually a distant third.

Solidaridad Obrera was a labor federation in Catalonia, Spain. It was initially formed on August 3, 1907, as a "pure syndicalist" federation, incorporating the structures of the Unió Local de Societats Obreres de Barcelona with the purpose of reorganizing the Catalan trade unions. These unions were quite weak at the time, due to the failure of a 1902 general strike which had sought the eight-hour day and the recognition of the right to strike.

Confederación General del Trabajo del Uruguay was a trade union confederation in Uruguay. It was founded in April 1929, by Bloque de Unidad Obrera. CGTU was politically led by the Communist Party of Uruguay. It was affiliated to the Confederación Sindical Latinoamericana. CGTU disappeared in 1934, as it suffered heavy repression from the Gabriel Terra government.

Confederación Xeral de Traballadores Galegos-Intersindical Nacional was a nationalist trade union centre in Galicia. CXTG-IN was founded in 1985, as a split from the Intersindical Nacional dos Traballadores Galegos (INTG). Fernando Acuña served as the general secretary of the organization. Politically the movement was close to Galician leftwing groups.

Since 6 April 2013, its Secretary General is Carles Sastre i Benlliure.
