Louder is the debut studio album by American pop rock band R5, which was released on September 24, 2013 by Hollywood Records. Louder was also released as a deluxe edition, with four extra tracks only available for digital download. [1] As of October 2014, Louder has sold 150,000 physical copies in the US. [2]
"We wanted to put out a fun album," says Rydel Lynch and Ratliff said "We wanted to make an upbeat and inspirational album you want to play 24/7." [3]
Louder is mainly a pop [4] [5] [6] and pop rock [7] record. The album discusses themes such as love, youth and freedom.
A deluxe version was exclusively sold at Target including the song "Wishing I Was 23" produced by Rocky Lynch, a ZinePak exclusively sold at Justice included stickers and the bonus track as well. A deluxe edition of the album was released in Japan in November, which includes another bonus track, "Crazy Stupid Love". [8] [9]
The album debuted on the Billboard 200 at number 24 selling 15,000 copies in first week. [10]

Louder received mixed reviews from critics. AllMusic's Tim Sendra praised Louder as a "strong, uncluttered and fun modern pop confection." Also, he praised Rydel, who has a vocal feature in "Love Me Like That". [12] Musichel called Louder R5's impressive "grand entrance into the world of pop music", also adding that "R5's future is set for the sky and beyond." [11] Xinhua of Spin or Bin says the album's "lacks of charisma" but praised Ross', Riker's and Rocky's vocal abilities. [14] Paul Lim, from Singaporean newspaper Today , called the album "immature, repetitive" and "even annoying". He also compared Louder with Katy Perry and Justin Bieber. He concluded saying that the band was "a joke". [13] Megan Phelan from Mountain Weekly News said, "there is not much to differentiate the band's sound from other trendy pop acts." However, she gave the band "extra credit" for playing their instruments. [15]
Love Me Like That was released as the only promotional single on September 16, 2013.

Ross Shor Lynch is an American actor and singer. He was the lead vocalist of the pop rock band R5 and is one half of the band the Driver Era. As an actor, he rose to recognition for his debut role as Austin Moon on Disney Channel's comedy television series Austin & Ally (2011–2016) and for his role as Brady in the network's musical films Teen Beach Movie (2013) and its sequel Teen Beach 2 (2015).
R5 was an American pop rock band formed in Los Angeles in 2009. The band consisted of Ross Lynch, Riker Lynch, Rocky Lynch, Rydel Lynch (keyboards/vocals), and Ellington Ratliff (drums/vocals). They released their first EP Ready Set Rock on March 9, 2010, but it was removed once Ross got his role on the Disney Channel show Austin and Ally. They then released the EP Loud on February 19, 2013. Since releasing their debut album, Louder, on September 24, 2013, which peaked at 24 on the Billboard 200, followed by their world tour. Their second album, Sometime Last Night, was released on July 10, 2015, and debuted at 6 on the US Billboard 200, and reached the top 20 in five other countries. They have also released five EPs, eleven singles, and a documentary. In 2018, the band ended and Ross and Rocky formed the duo The Driver Era.
Austin & Ally is a Disney Channel soundtrack from the hit TV series Austin & Ally. Grinning Streak is the tenth full-length original-material studio album by Barenaked Ladies, released on 4 June 2013 on Vanguard Records. It is the band's first album on Vanguard.
