Muslim Community Center Academy (MCCA) is a Muslim K-12 school in the Chicago metropolitan area and in Illinois. Pre-Kindergarten and elementary school students attend classes in Skokie while secondary grades are in Morton Grove. [1]
The school purchased land for a single campus in Morton Grove in 1989. [2] The school described 1989 as its year of establishment. [3] The school began operations in August of the following year. [1] It initially had grades Kindergarten through 2. 25 students were enrolled when the school opened. [4]
At first the school had seven principals before 2002, and that year its enrollment count was 175. In 2002 Habeeb Quadri, the son of the founder of the MCC organization, became the principal. He later became the superintendent. [5]
For a period of time the school had grades K-8 only, partly because since 2004, the government of Morton Grove did not permit the institution to add high school. [6]
In early 2014 the school had 50 employees and 476 students. [7] In 2014 Skokie School District 68 sold MCC a school building that was previously a private Jewish day school, Solomon Schechter Day School, [8] and the Kenton School. That year MCC moved its elementary school students to that campus. [7]
In 2018 MCCA had 129 students at the middle school level. That year, [9] the Morton Grove government agreed to lift the restrictions on high school students, with new rules allowing up to 25 high school students to enter each year. The high school, MCCA College Prep, opened in 2018 with 11 9th grade students. [2]
In 2020 the school had 740 students. [5]
It also has a hifz program, which had 40 students in 2018. [9]
The secondary campus has 26,035 square feet (2,418.7 m2) of area and includes a mosque and a parking lot that can accommodate over 200 cars. [7]
The elementary campus in Skokie retained the prayer room and a mural reflecting Jewish culture. [10]
Oakton Community College allows students of MCC at the high school level to take university-level classes. [11]
In 2016 a girls' basketball team began to play in the Illinois Elementary School Association's league, making it the only hijab-wearing team. [12]

Oakton College is a public community college with campuses in Des Plaines, Illinois and Skokie, Illinois. It was established in 1969 in Morton Grove, Illinois and moved to its current locations in 1980.
Ida Crown Jewish Academy is a Modern Orthodox Jewish high school in Skokie, Illinois, under the auspicies of the Associated Talmud Torahs. Its current dean is Leonard Matanky. ICJA places emphasis on both Judaic and Secular studies and holds its students to high academic standards. ICJA encourages its students to pursue a year in yeshiva or seminary in Israel before attending college. Ida Crown serves students from all over the Chicago area, including Chicago, Lincolnwood, Skokie, Northbrook, Highland Park, Glencoe, Deerfield, Buffalo Grove, Des Plaines, and Evanston.
Kenwood Academy is a comprehensive public four-year high school, with a middle school magnet program for gifted students, located in the Hyde Park–Kenwood neighborhood on the south side of Chicago, Illinois, United States. Operated by the Chicago Public Schools (CPS) district, Kenwood opened in temporary quarters in 1966 and in its permanent building in 1969. Kenwood limits acceptance of high school students to those living in Hyde Park: from Lake Michigan to Cottage Grove Avenue east to west, and 47th to the Midway Plaisance north to south. Kenwood was recognized as a "School of Distinction" for its academic achievement and a Model School by the International Center for Leadership in Education in 2004.
Golf School District 67 is located in Morton Grove, Illinois. The Village of Morton Grove is approximately 13 miles north of downtown Chicago. The district consists of two schools: Hynes Elementary School and Golf Middle School. Students in Pre-Kindergarten through fourth grade attend Hynes Elementary School, and those in grades five through eight attend Golf Middle School. The school district has an enrollment of approximately 695 students and is served by 90 teachers and staff.

NWHS is part of the Niles Township Community High School District 219, which also includes Niles North High School. The name of the school teams originally was the Indians, which later was changed to the Wolves, in 2001. The feeder middle-schools for NWHS are Lincoln Junior High School (Skokie), Fairview South School (Skokie), Lincoln Hall Middle School (Lincolnwood), Culver Middle School (Niles), and Park View School. Niles West High School also matriculates many students from MCC Academy, Morton Grove, Illinois.

Chicago Futabakai Japanese School, alternately in Japanese Shikago Nihonjin Gakkō, is a Japanese elementary and junior high day school and Saturday education program in Arlington Heights, Illinois near Chicago. As of 1988 it is sponsored by the Japanese Ministry of Education, now the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT). Before moving to Arlington Heights in 1998, the Futabakai education program was previously located in Chicago, Skokie, and Niles in Illinois, with the day program beginning during the period in Skokie.

Edward Jenner School, also known as Edward Jenner Elementary Academy of the Arts, was a public PK-8 school located in the Cabrini-Green area of the Near North Side, Chicago, Illinois, United States. Named after Edward Jenner, The school was opened and operated by the Chicago Public Schools (CPS). Jenner merged with Ogden International School in September 2018. The campus is now Ogden International–Jenner which serves grades Pre–K, 5th through 8th.

Bushra Amiwala is a Memon Pakistani-American college student at DePaul University who, as of April 2019, is the first Gen Z elected official in the United States, and went down in the Chicago History Museum as the youngest Muslim elected official in the United States. Amiwala was a Democratic candidate for the Cook County Board of Commissioners in the 2018 Illinois primary election. She lost to the then 16-year incumbent Larry Suffredin in the Democratic primary election on March 20, 2018. Suffredin then encouraged Amiwala to run for public office shortly after she announced her candidacy for D73.5 Board of Education, and was elected in April 2019.
