The Macedonian Chess Championship is organized by the Chess Federation of Macedonia. It was last held in 2011, although the Macedonian Open Chess Championship, which is also open to foreign players, continues to be organized annually.
The Socialist Republic of Macedonia held its first chess championship in 1946, which was won by Pavle Bidev , a four-time winner between 1946 and 1955. [1] [2] Jovan Sofrevski won a record sixteen titles, and Risto Nicevski became the youngest winner at 20 years old when he won the 1966 championship; he won five titles in total. [3]

The Chess Olympiad is a biennial chess tournament in which teams representing nations of the world compete. FIDE organises the tournament and selects the host nation. Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, FIDE held an Online Chess Olympiad in 2020 and 2021, with a rapid time control that affected players' online ratings.
The World Chess Championship is played to determine the world champion in chess. The current world champion is Magnus Carlsen of Norway, who has held the title since 2013.
Viswanathan "Vishy" Anand is an Indian chess grandmaster and a five-time world chess champion. He became the first grandmaster from India in 1988, and is one of the few players to have surpassed an Elo rating of 2800, a feat he first achieved in 2006. Sven Magnus Øen Carlsen is a Norwegian chess grandmaster who is the reigning five-time World Chess Champion. He is also a three-time World Rapid Chess Champion and five-time World Blitz Chess Champion. He has held the No. 1 position in the FIDE world chess rankings since 1 July 2011, and trails only Garry Kasparov in time spent as the highest rated player in the world. His peak rating of 2882 is the highest in history. He also holds the record for the longest unbeaten streak at the elite level in classical chess.
Sergey Alexandrovich Karjakin is a Russian chess grandmaster. A chess prodigy, he previously held the record for the world's youngest ever grandmaster, having qualified for the title at the age of 12 years and 7 months.
Levon Grigori Aronian is an Armenian chess grandmaster, who currently plays for the United States Chess Federation. A chess prodigy, he earned the title of grandmaster in 2000, at age 17. Aronian held the No. 2 position in the March 2014 FIDE world chess rankings with a rating of 2830, becoming the fourth-highest rated player in history.
Shahriyar Hamid oghlu Mammadyarov, known internationally as Shakhriyar Mamedyarov, is an Azerbaijani chess grandmaster. As of December 2021, he is ranked No. 1 in Azerbaijan and No. 7 in the world. His personal best rating of 2820 makes him the sixth-highest-rated player in chess history.
Hou Yifan is a Chinese chess grandmaster, four-time Women's World Chess Champion and the second highest rated female player of all time. The World Rapid Chess Championship is a chess tournament held to determine the world champion in chess played under rapid time controls. Prior to 2012, FIDE gave such recognition to a limited number of tournaments, with non-FIDE recognized tournaments annually naming a world rapid champion of their own. Since 2012, FIDE has held an annual joint rapid and blitz chess tournament and billed it as the World Rapid & Blitz Chess Championships. FIDE also holds the Women's World Rapid & Blitz Chess Championship. The current rapid world champion is the Uzbek grandmaster Nodirbek Abdusattorov. Alexandra Kosteniuk from Russia is the current women's rapid world champion.

Bibisara Assaubayeva is a Kazakh chess player. Assaubayeva holds the titles of International Master and Woman Grandmaster. She is the Women's Blitz World champion, the youngest in history to earn the title. She was Awarded a title the best Asian women chess player of 2021 by FIDE
Alireza Firouzja is an Iranian-French chess grandmaster. He is the youngest-ever 2800-rated player, beating the previous record set by Magnus Carlsen by more than five months. His peak ranking was No. 2, which he held from December 1, 2021, to May 1, 2022.
The Asian Team Chess Championship is an international team chess tournament open to national federations affiliated to FIDE in Asia and Oceania. It is organized by the Asian Chess Federation, and the winner qualifies to participate at the next World Team Chess Championship. The open championship has been held at intervals of anywhere from one to four years since 1974. The Asian Women's Team Chess Championship has been held concurrently with the open championship since 1995. Recent editions have additionally featured side team events held at rapid and blitz time controls.

He plays for the United States Chess Federation (USCF) where he has a Regular Rating of 2542, Quick Rating of 2488 and Blitz Rating of 2572. He is ranked #112 among all players in the US, #72 among all active players, #235 in the American Continent and #1796 among all players in the world. Per FIDE, he reached a peak rating of 2537 and currently has an ELO standard rating of 2447 and blitz rating of 2515.
