Air Botswana Corporation is Botswana's state-owned national flag carrier, with its headquarters located in Gaborone. It operates scheduled domestic and regional flights from its main base at Sir Seretse Khama International Airport. Susan Polgar is a Hungarian-American chess grandmaster. Polgár was Women's World Chess Champion from 1996 to 1999. On FIDE's Elo rating system list of July 1984, at the age of 15, she became the top-ranked female chess player in the world. In 1991, she became the third woman to be awarded the title of Grandmaster by FIDE. She won eleven medals at the Women's Chess Olympiad.

The Chobe Regional Football Association Division One League, also known as the CHORFA Division One, is one of the regional leagues that make up the third tier of Botswana football. It is administered by the Chobe Regional Football Association and features teams from Chobe region.

Botswana saw the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. Lockdowns were implemented between March and May, and restrictions continued throughout the year. The previous year's general election was disputed by the opposition, and several cases were filed to overturn the results. Tensions rose with South Africa in 2020 as Botswana sought the prosecution of Bridgette Radebe. Concerns regarding wildlife conservation increased in 2020 as elephants began dying off in large numbers, as well as similar concerns about vultures. Armed conflicts with poachers continued throughout the year, including the killing of four men in November that caused protests in Namibia.

Zibani Chikanda is a Botswana former amateur boxer who competed at middleweight. He won a bronze medal at the 2015 African Games and a silver at the 2015 African Championships.

Botswana continued to address the COVID-19 pandemic in 2022, including the discovery of the COVID-19 variant Omicron BA.4 and BA.5, with COVID-19 restrictions being relaxed in October. Continued disputes took place regarding the Botswana–Namibia border, though an open border was established in September. The rivalry between President Mokgweetsi Masisi and his predecessor Ian Khama escalated in 2022, accelerated by firearms charges against Khama and a warrant for his arrest. The government also saw controversy for its support of bills that would grant it additional espionage powers and regulate journalists.

Goabaone Taylor is a Motswana accountant and sports administrator who served as the chief executive officer of Botswana Football Association between April and December 2021. She occupied this position with effect from 1 April 2021 making her the first female to occupy this position since the inception of the organisation in 1966.

Busang Collen Kebinatshipi is a track and field athlete from Botswana. In 2023, he became the African U20 champion in the 400 metres.

The Botswana Golden Grand Prix, formerly called the Gaborone International Meet, is a track and field meeting held at the Botswana National Stadium in Gaborone. Since 2023, it is a World Athletics Continental Tour Gold level meeting – the second-highest level of athletics meetings behind the Diamond League.

The 2023 Men's African Netball Championships was the inaugural edition of the Men's Netball Africa Cup organised by Netball Africa. It was held at the University of Botswana Indoor Facility in Gaborone, Botswana.
