Martin's Super Markets is an American retail supermarket chain headquartered in South Bend, Indiana. The chain operates 21 stores throughout both Michigan and Indiana. [2] Most stores include a deli, bakery, produce, meat and seafood department, among the traditional grocery and non-edible aisle.

2014 shooting incident

On January 15, 2014, a gunman entered a Martin's Supermarket store located in Elkhart, shooting and killing two women; the assailant was shot dead by local police. [5] [6]

WNDU-TV, virtual channel 16, is an NBC-affiliated television station licensed to South Bend, Indiana, United States. Owned by Gray Television, WNDU maintains studios on State Road 933 on South Bend's north side and its transmitter is located southeast of the St. Joseph County Fairgrounds on the city's south side. The station's studios also house production facilities for the syndicated agricultural news programs AgDay and U.S. Farm Report, the former of which is broadcast locally by WNDU; WNDU's weather department provides the forecasts seen on those shows.

Marsh Supermarkets was an American retail food chain headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana, with nearly 100 stores located throughout Central Indiana and parts of western Ohio. Its parent company was Sun Capital Partners, headquartered in Boca Raton, Florida. The company filed for bankruptcy on May 11, 2017, and was eventually liquidated. Topvalco, Inc., a subsidiary of Supermarket chain giant and competitor Kroger purchased 11 out of the 44 remaining stores while Ohio-based Fresh Encounter purchased another 15 stores. The unsold 18 stores were closed on or before July 8, 2017.

Giant Food Stores, LLC is an American supermarket chain that operates stores in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia. The chain operates under the Giant and Martin's banners. Eberhard's or Eberhard was a supermarket chain based in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The company ceased operations in the early 1990s succumbing to increased competition, and the inability to keep up with evolving supermarket trends. Between 1985 and 1986 Spartan Stores was in negotiations to buy Eberhards' stores and headquarters/distribution center. That deal never materialized, instead, each store was sold individually to a variety of people and groups, including chains and managers of each store. In its prime the chain operated 41 locations around Michigan.

Glen's Markets was an American supermarket chain founded in Gaylord, Michigan in 1951. The chain had over 20 stores throughout northern Michigan at its peak. It was a subsidiary of SpartanNash, who converted most of the chain's locations to its Family Fare banner between 2010 and 2014.

U.S. Route 31 (US 31) is a part of the United States Numbered Highway System that runs from Spanish Fort, Alabama, to Mackinaw City, Michigan. Concord Mall is an enclosed shopping mall serving Elkhart, Indiana. It opened in 1972 and is anchored by J. C. Penney, Jo Ann Fabrics, Hobby Lobby and Martin's Supermarkets.
