The mayor of Levin officiated over the Levin Borough of New Zealand. The borough was administered by the Levin Borough Council. The initial office existed from 1906 until 1989, when Levin Borough became Horowhenua District as part of the 1989 local government reforms. There have been 14 mayors of Levin. [1] Horace Herring was previously a Labour MP for Mid-Canterbury from 1935–1938. The final Mayor to serve in Levin was Noel Horace Sciascia.

Rodney District was a local government area in the northernmost part of New Zealand's Auckland Region from 1989 to 2010. It included Kawau Island. It was created from the amalgamation of Helensville Borough and Rodney County in 1989. The seat of Rodney District Council was at Orewa. Rodney District and Rodney County each took their names from Cape Rodney, which Captain James Cook named on 24 November 1769 after Admiral Sir George Brydges Rodney.
Waitākere City was a territorial authority in West Auckland, New Zealand; it was governed by the Waitākere City Council from 1989 to 2010. It was New Zealand's fifth-largest city, with an annual growth of about 2%. In 2010 the council was amalgamated with the other authorities of the Auckland Region to form the current Auckland Council.
Horowhenua District is a territorial authority district on the west coast of the North Island of New Zealand, administered by Horowhenua District Council. Located north of Wellington and Kapiti, it stretches from slightly north of the town of Ōtaki in the south to just south of Himatangi in the north, and from the coast to the top of the Tararua Range. It is in the Manawatū-Whanganui local government region. The name Horowhenua is Māori for landslide.
