The Mayor of Masterton is the head of the municipal government of Masterton, New Zealand, and presides over the Masterton District Council. The Mayor is directly elected using First Past the Post.The Mayor is assisted by the Deputy Mayor of Masterton.

The current Mayor is Gary Caffell, elected in October 2022.

It stands on the Waipoua stream between the Ruamahunga and Waingawa Rivers – 100 kilometres north-east of Wellington and 39.4 kilometres south of Eketāhuna.

Hood Aerodrome is an aerodrome, located in Masterton, New Zealand, it is located 1 NM South West of the town centre in the suburb of Solway. The aerodrome was named after George Hood, a pioneer Masterton aviator who died trying to make the first Trans-Tasman crossing in 1928. The aerodrome is used extensively for general aviation flights, and has also been used for commercial flights, Air New Zealand stopped serving the airport from 5 February 2014. Two new airlines have looked at re-instating a service to Auckland using larger aircraft but the runway will need to be lengthened to 1400m and widened to 30m first before it can start.

Wairarapa College is a state coeducational secondary school located in Masterton, New Zealand. The college first opened in 1938, following the merger of Wairarapa High School with the Masterton Technical School. Serving Years 9 to 13, the college has 1026 students as of April 2023, including approximately 175 resident in the school's on-site boarding hostel, College House.

George Groombridge was a New Zealand politician and social worker. He was president of the New Zealand First Party between 2006 and 2010.
