The South Taranaki District was formed in the 1989 local government reforms. Pierce Joyce was the first mayor [2] until he was beaten in the 1992 local elections by Mary Bourke. [3] Bourke retired at the 2007 local elections and was replaced by Ross Dunlop. [4] Phil Nixon is the current mayor of South Taranaki. [1] He won the mayoral election by a large margin in October 2019 after Dunlop did not seek re-election. [4]

Clover Margaret Moore is an Australian politician. She has been the Lord Mayor of the City of Sydney since 2004 and is currently the longest serving Lord Mayor of Sydney since the creation of the City of Sydney in 1842. She was an independent member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly from 1988 to 2012, representing the electorates of Bligh (1988–2007) and Sydney (2007–2012). Her "recurrent motif" is described as "making Sydney more liveable for individuals and families". Moore is the first popularly elected female Lord Mayor of Sydney.
The Mayor of Wellington is the head of the municipal government of the City of Wellington. The mayor presides over the Wellington City Council. This excludes the adjacent cities of Lower Hutt, Upper Hutt, and Porirua, which elect their own mayors. Debbie Anne Ngarewa-Packer is a New Zealand politician, iwi leader and activist. She is a Member of Parliament and co-leader of Te Pāti Māori alongside Rawiri Waititi, and is the leader and chief executive of the Ngāti Ruanui iwi. She stood for Te Pāti Māori during the 2020 election in the seat of Te Tai Hauāuru. While she failed to win the electorate, she was placed first on Te Pāti Māori list, where she won a list seat once the special votes were counted.
