The Mayor of Central Otago officiates over the Central Otago District of New Zealand which is administered by the Central Otago District Council. The first Mayor of Central Otago was W.S. McIntosh [1] who was elected in 1989, when following the local government reforms of that year, the Central Otago District Council was formed in the place of the previous county and borough councils of Central Otago. [2]

The Mayor of Central Otago serves a three-year term and acts as the chair of the Council which comprises 11 other elected Councillors. The current Deputy Mayor is Neil Gillespie. [3] The next election for the Mayor and Councillors of the Central Otago District is scheduled for 2022.

The current Mayor of Central Otago is Tim Cadogan. [4] Cadogan was re-elected unopposed in 2022. [5] [6]

Alexandra is a town in the Central Otago district of the South Island of New Zealand. It is on the banks of the Clutha River, on State Highway 8, 188 kilometres (117 mi) by road from Dunedin and 33 kilometres (21 mi) south of Cromwell. Mayor of Whangarei

The Mayor of Whangarei is the directly elected head of the Whangarei District Council, the local government authority for the Whangarei District in New Zealand, which it controls as a territorial authority. The position has existed since 27 October 1896, when the Whangarei Borough Council was constituted. Later the mayor presided over Whangarei City Council. The Three Waters reform programme is a public infrastructure restructuring programme launched by the Sixth Labour Government to centralise the management of water supply and sanitation in New Zealand. It proposes shifting control of stormwater, drinking water and wastewater management from the country's 67 local councils to four new publicly-owned regional entities by July 2024. Details of the proposed reforms were announced in October 2021. The Three Waters reforms were criticised by several mayors and the opposition National and ACT parties.

The 2022 Invercargill mayoral election will take place on 8 October 2022 as part of the New Zealand local elections. Incumbent mayor Tim Shadbolt is running for a tenth term.

The 2022 Wellington local elections will be held on 8 October 2022 as part of the wider 2022 New Zealand local elections, to elect members to sub-national councils and boards. The Wellington elections cover one regional council, eight territorial authorities, and various community boards and licensing trusts.
