The Minister of Finance (or simply, Finance Minister) (Malay : Menteri Kewangan) is the head of the Ministry of Finance of the Government of Malaysia. One of the senior posts in the Cabinet of Malaysia, the finance minister is responsible for determining the fiscal policy and managing national budget of the government.
The Minister of Finance has been Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim since 3 December 2022. He previously served his first term from 1991 to 1998.

Putrajaya, officially the Federal Territory of Putrajaya, is the administrative centre of Malaysia. The seat of the federal government of Malaysia was moved in 1999 from Kuala Lumpur to Putrajaya because of overcrowding and congestion in Kuala Lumpur, whilst the seat of the judiciary of Malaysia was later moved to Putrajaya in 2003. Kuala Lumpur remains as Malaysia's national capital city per the constitution and is still the seat of the head of state and the national legislature, as well as being the country's commercial and financial centre.
A ministry of finance is a ministry or other government agency in charge of government finance, fiscal policy, and financial regulation. It is headed by a finance minister, an executive or cabinet position.

Mohammad Najib bin Tun Haji Abdul Razak is a Malaysian politician who served as the sixth Prime Minister of Malaysia from 2009 to 2018. In 2020, he was convicted of corruption in the 1Malaysia Development Berhad scandal, one of the largest money-laundering and embezzlement scandals in history. He is the son of former prime minister Abdul Razak Hussein. Najib Razak was the chairman of the Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition from April 2009 to May 2018 and the president of the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO) from November 2008 to May 2018, which had maintained control of Malaysia's government with a parliamentary majority for more than sixty years until the coalition's defeat in the 2018 general election.
Tun Dr. Che Abdul Daim bin Zainuddin is a Malaysian politician and businessman who served as the Minister of Finance from 1984 to 1991. In May 2023, he was investigated for corruption of RM2.3 billion by the Malaysian authorities related to the expose from the Pandora Papers. which led to some bank accounts and assets controlled by him or his family to be seized or frozen.
Lim Guan Eng is a Malaysian politician and accountant from the Democratic Action Party (DAP), a component party of the Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition who has served as Member of Parliament (MP) for Bagan, Member of the Penang State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Air Putih since March 2008 and 5th National Chairman of DAP since March 2022. He served as the Minister of Finance in the PH administration under former Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad from May 2018 to the collapse of the PH administration in February 2020, 4th Chief Minister of Penang from March 2008 to May 2018, MP for Kota Melaka from August 1986 to November 1999 and 4th Secretary-General of DAP from September 2004 to March 2022.
The Cabinet of Malaysia is the executive branch of the Government of Malaysia. Led by the Prime Minister, the cabinet is a council of ministers who are accountable collectively to the Parliament. According to the Article 43 of the Federal Constitution, members of the Cabinet can only be selected from members of either houses of Parliament. Formally, the Yang di-Pertuan Agong appoints all Ministers on the advice of the Prime Minister. The constitution is amended by repealing the Clause (8) of Article 43, enabling a person who is a member of State Legislative Assembly to continue to serve even while serving as a minister or deputy minister in the cabinet. Ministers other than the Prime Minister shall hold office during the pleasure of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, unless the appointment of any Minister shall have been revoked by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong on the advice of the Prime Minister but any Minister may resign from office. In practice, the Yang di-Pertuan Agong is obliged to follow the advice of the Prime Minister on the appointment and dismissal of ministers.

Anwar bin Ibrahim is a Malaysian politician who has served as the tenth Prime Minister of Malaysia since 2022. He served as the 12th and 16th Leader of the Opposition from 2008 to 2015 and again from 2020 to 2022. He has been the chairman of the Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition since 2020, the second President of the People's Justice Party (PKR) since 2018 and the Member of Parliament (MP) for Tambun since November 2022. He also served as Deputy Prime Minister and in many other Cabinet positions in the Barisan Nasional (BN) administration under former Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad from 1982 to his removal in 1998.
Ahmad Husni bin Mohamad Hanadzlah is a former Second Minister of Finance of Malaysia. He was appointed on 10 April 2009 when Najib Razak became Prime Minister. He was also the Member of Parliament for Tambun for five terms from April 1995 to May 2018. He is a member of the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO), a major component party in the Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition.
Datuk Seri Haji Ahmad bin Maslan is a Malaysian politician who has served as the Deputy Minister of Works under Minister Alexander Nanta Linggi since December 2023 and previously served as the Deputy Minister of Finance I from December 2022 to December 2023 in the Unity Government administration under Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim. He has served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Pontian since March 2008. He also had served as the Deputy Minister of International Trade and Industry, Deputy Minister of Finance and Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Department in the Barisan Nasional (BN) administration under former Prime Minister Najib Razak and former Ministers Nor Mohamed Yakcop, Najib Razak, Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah, Mustapa Mohamed and Ong Ka Chuan from April 2009 to the collapse of the BN administration in May 2018. He is a member of the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO), a component party of the BN coalition. He has also served as State Deputy Chairman of UMNO of Johor and Division Chief of UMNO of Pontian since March 2023. He also served as the Secretary-General of UMNO from March 2020 to March 2023 and also of BN from January 2021 to June 2021 as well as Division Deputy Chief of UMNO of Pontian from 2008 to his promotion to the division chief in March 2023.
The Prime Minister's Department is a federal government ministry in Malaysia. Its objective is "determining the services of all divisions are implemented according to policy, legislation / regulations and current guidelines". It is headed by the Prime Minister of Malaysia followed by other Minister in the Prime Minister's Department. The Department consists of the Prime Minister's Office, the Deputy Prime Minister's Office and more than 50 other government agencies and entities. The Prime Minister's Department was established on July 1957. Its headquarters are in Perdana Putra, Putrajaya.

According to a leaked US diplomatic cable dating back to 2006, the Research Division is actually the public name for the Malaysian External Intelligence Organisation (MEIO), the country's main foreign intelligence agency.
Johari bin Abdul Ghani or more commonly known as Dato' Jo is a Malaysian politician and chartered accountant who has served as Minister of Plantation and Commodities in the Unity Government administration under Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim since December 2023, Chairman of the Asset Recovery Task Force on the 1Malaysia Development Berhad scandal since March 2023 and the Member of Parliament (MP) for Titiwangsa from May 2013 to May 2018 and again since November 2022. He served as the Minister of Finance II in the Barisan Nasional (BN) administration under former Prime Minister Najib Razak from June 2016 to the collapse of the BN administration in May 2018, Deputy Minister of Finance in the BN administration under former Prime Minister and Minister Najib and former Minister II Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah from July 2015 to his promotion to Minister II in June 2016 as well as Chairman of the UDA Holdings Berhad from July 2013 to his resignation in July 2015. He is a member of the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO), a component party of the BN coalition. He has served as the Treasurer General of BN since April 2023 and Vice President of UMNO since March 2023. He is also presently the only BN MP in Klang Valley.
