The Parliament of Malaysia is the national legislature of Malaysia, based on the Westminster system. The bicameral parliament consists of the Dewan Rakyat and the Dewan Negara. The Yang di-Pertuan Agong (King), as the head of state, is the third component of Parliament.
The Jelebu District is the second largest district in Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia after Jempol, with a population over 40,000. Jelebu borders on the Seremban District to its west and Kuala Pilah District to its south, Jempol District to its southeast, Bentong and Bera Districts, Pahang to its east and Hulu Langat District, Selangor to the north. Jelebu is a suburban district with blossoming semi-agricultural industry. Jelebu is also a parliamentary constituency of the Dewan Rakyat in the Malaysian Parliament. Kuala Klawang is the principal town of the district.
The Dewan Negara is the upper house of the Parliament of Malaysia, consisting of 70 senators of whom 26 are elected by the state legislative assemblies, with two senators for each state, while the other 44 are appointed by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong (King), including four who are appointed to represent the federal territories.
Shahrizat binti Abdul Jalil is a Malaysian politician who served in the Cabinet of Malaysia as Minister of Women, Family and Community Development from 2009 to 2012. She was the Member of Parliament for Lembah Pantai from 1995 to 2008 and subsequently served as a Senator in the Dewan Negara.
Mohamed Azmin bin Ali is a Malaysian politician who is the current Leader of the Opposition of Selangor and member of the Selangor State Legislative Assembly for Hulu Kelang since August 2023. Formerly a member of the Malaysian Parliament for Gombak from 2008 to 2022, Azmin served in the cabinets of Muhyiddin Yassin and Ismail Sabri Yaakob as Senior Minister of the Economic Cluster and Minister of International Trade and Industry from 2020 to 2022. A member of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (BERSATU), which is a component party of Perikatan Nasional coalition, Azmin also served as a member of the Selangor State Legislative Assembly for Bukit Antarabangsa from 2008 to 2023.
Anthony Loke Siew Fook is a Malaysian politician who has served as the Minister of Transport for the first term in the Unity Government administration under Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim since December 2022 and previously in the Pakatan Harapan administration under former Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad from May 2018 to the collapse of the PH administration in February 2020, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Seremban since May 2013, Rasah from March 2008 to May 2013 and Member of the Negeri Sembilan State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Chennah since May 2013, Lobak from March 2004 to May 2013. He is a member of the Democratic Action Party (DAP), a component party of the PH and formerly Pakatan Rakyat (PR) coalitions. He has served as the 6th Secretary-General of DAP since March 2022, 2nd Parliamentary Leader of DAP from July 2018 to March 2022 and previously as National Organising Secretary of DAP and Youth Chief of DAP or Chief of Socialist Youth (DAPSY). He was also the Leader of the Opposition of Negeri Sembilan and State Chairman of the PR of Negeri Sembilan.
Mohamad bin Aziz was the Member of the Parliament of Malaysia for the Sri Gading constituency in the state of Johor from 1999 to 2013. He sat in Parliament as a member of the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO) party in the governing Barisan Nasional coalition.
Datuk Seri Haji Mohamad bin Sabu, commonly known as Mat Sabu, is a Malaysian politician who has served as the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security in the Pakatan Harapan (PH) administration under Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim since November 2022 and Minister of Defence in the PH administration under former Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad from May 2018 to the collapse of the PH administration in February 2020. He has served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Kota Raja since May 2018, Kuala Kedah from November 1999 to March 2004, Kubang Kerian from April 1995 to November 1999 and Nilam Puri from October 1990 to April 1995. He is a member of the National Trust Party (AMANAH), a component party of the PH coalition. He has also served as the 1st and founding President of AMANAH since September 2015.
Mahathir Mohamad, the fourth Prime Minister of Malaysia, formed the first Mahathir cabinet in 1981 after being invited by Tuanku Ahmad Shah to form a new government following the resignation of the previous Prime Minister, Hussein Onn. Hussein had presided over the second Hussein cabinet, a coalition government that consisted of members of the component parties of Barisan Nasional. It was the 9th cabinet of Malaysia formed since independence.
Mahathir Mohamad formed the second Mahathir cabinet after being invited by Tuanku Ahmad Shah to begin a new government following the 22 April 1982 general election in Malaysia. Prior to the election, Mahathir led the first Mahathir cabinet, a coalition government that consisted of members of the component parties of Barisan Nasional. It was the 10th cabinet of Malaysia formed since independence.
The Malaysian United Indigenous Party, abbreviated BERSATU or PPBM, is a nationalist political party in Malaysia. The party was preceded by the United Indigenous Association of Malaysia. It is a major component party within the Perikatan Nasional coalition. BERSATU was approved and registered on 14 January 2017 by the Registrar of Societies (ROS) and the use of the BERSATU logo was authorized by the Malaysian Election Commission (SPR). The party held the Prime Ministerial position as well as the majority of positions in the cabinet from May 2020 to August 2021. The party's founding members came from the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO) and Barisan Nasional rebel group Gabungan Ketua Cawangan Malaysia in 2016.
Mohamed Hanipa bin Maidin is a Malaysian politician and barrister who served as the Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Department in charge of legal affairs in the Pakatan Harapan (PH) administration under former Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad and former Minister Liew Vui Keong from July 2018 to the collapse of the PH administration in February 2020 and the Member of Parliament (MP) for Sepang from May 2013 to November 2022. He is a member of the National Trust Party (AMANAH), a component party of the PH coalition. and was a member of Malaysian Islamic Party (PAS). He and other progressive PAS leaders referred to as the G18 were ousted at the 2015 PAS Muktamar. This led them to launch Gerakan Harapan Baru (GHB), which took over the dormant Malaysian Workers' Party, after their attempt to form a new party called Parti Progresif Islam (PPI) was rejected by the Home Affairs Ministry. GHB was later rebranded as AMANAH with Mohamad Sabu as its 1st President.
Isnaraissah Munirah binti Majilis @ Fakharudy is a Malaysian politician and electrical engineer who has served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Kota Belud since May 2018. She served as the Deputy Minister of Energy, Science, Technology, Environment and Climate Change in the Pakatan Harapan (PH) administration under former Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad and former Minister Yeo Bee Yin from July 2018 to the collapse of the PH administration in February 2020. She is a member of the Heritage Party (WARISAN) and was a member of the People's Justice Party (PKR), a component party of the PH and formerly Pakatan Rakyat (PR) coalitions. She is also presently the sole female WARISAN MP.
Datuk Shahruddin bin Md Salleh is a Malaysian politician who served as the Deputy Minister of Works in the Perikatan Nasional (PN) administration under Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin and Minister Fadillah Yusof from March 2020 to his resignation in June 2020, Deputy Minister of Federal Territories in the Pakatan Harapan (PH) administration under former Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad and former Minister Khalid Abdul Samad from July 2018 to the collapse of the PH administration in February 2020, Chairman of the Malaysian Institute of Translation and Books (IBTM) from February 2010 to his removal from the position in October 2016, Member of Parliament (MP) for Sri Gading from May 2018 to November 2022 and the Member of the Johor State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Jorak from March 2008 to May 2018. He was also political secretary to Muhyiddin. He is a member and was a State Chairman of Johor of the Homeland Fighters Party (PEJUANG) before October 2022 and was a member and 1st Secretary-General of the Malaysian United Indigenous Party (BERSATU), a component party of the ruling PN coalition and former component party of the PH opposition coalition and member of the United Malay National Organisation (UMNO), a component party of the Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition.
The 2020–2022 Malaysian political crisis was triggered after several Members of Parliament (MPs) of the 14th Malaysian Parliament changed party support, leading to the loss of a parliamentary majority, the collapse of two successive coalition governments, and the resignation of two Prime Ministers. The political crisis culminated in a 2022 snap general election and eventual formation of a coalition government.
The Muhyiddin cabinet was formed on 10 March 2020, nine days after Muhyiddin Yassin was appointed as the 8th Prime Minister of Malaysia and dissolved 17 months and 6 days later on 16 August 2021, the day when Muhyiddin submitted his resignations as PM and of this cabinet. It was the 21st cabinet of Malaysia formed since independence. This cabinet was also known as the Perikatan Nasional Cabinet (PN-Cabinet) which combined 15 political parties from the Perikatan Nasional (PN) component parties, with Barisan Nasional (BN) component parties, Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) component parties and United Sabah Party (PBS) as allied partners providing confidence and supply.
The National Alliance is a political coalition composed of the Malaysian United Indigenous Party, Malaysian Islamic Party, Malaysian People's Movement Party and Sabah Progressive Party. This coalition was preceded by the Malaysian Party Alliance Association, also known as the Persatuan Perikatan Parti Malaysia (PPPM). It is the second largest political coalition in Dewan Rakyat with 74 seats after Pakatan Harapan (PH) with 81 seats; dubbed as the "Green Wave".
Mustaffa bin Mohammad was a Malaysian politician and former Minister of Social Welfare from 1987 to 1990. He also served as Deputy Minister of Works.
Datuk Guan Dee bin Koh Hoi was a Malaysian politician who served as the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture in the Perikatan Nasional (PN) administration under former Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin from April 2021 to August 2021 and Senator from December 2020 to his death in October 2021. He was a member of and also served as Secretary-General of the Homeland Solidarity Party (STAR), a component party of the ruling PN coalition, from its establishment in July 2016 to his death in October 2021.
Clarence Elong Mansul was a Malaysian politician from BERJAYA. He was the Deputy Minister of Energy, Telecommunications and Posts from 1981 to 1983. He was also the Member of Parliament for Penampang from 1978 to 1986 and Member of Sabah State Legislative Assembly for Tamparuli from 1983 to 1985.
