The Anwar Ibrahim cabinet is the current federal cabinet of Malaysia, formed on 3 December 2022, [1] nine days after Anwar Ibrahim took office as the 10th Prime Minister of Malaysia. The composition of the cabinet was announced by Anwar a day earlier on 2 December 2022, consisting of most of the political coalitions and parties represented in the 15th Parliament. [2] It was the 23rd cabinet of Malaysia formed since independence. Although Perikatan Nasional (PN) was also invited to join the government, it decided to decline the invitation and instead formed the opposition. The government is often referred to as "unity government" (Malay: Kerajaan Perpaduan).

The Unity Government formed a secretariat to coordinate the activities of its component coalitions and parties in February 2023. Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the Barisan Nasional (BN) and President of the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO) Ahmad Zahid Hamidi added that the inaugural meeting of the secretariat would pay attention to finding common ground between the manifestos of its different components and strengthening the government. [6] The inaugural secretariat meeting was held at the headquarters of UMNO and attended by Prime Minister, Chairman of the Pakatan Harapan (PH) and President of the People's Justice Party (PKR) Anwar Ibrahim, Minister of Transport, Deputy President of PH and Secretary-General of the Democratic Action Party (DAP) Anthony Loke Siew Fook and among others. This marked the first time Anwar had revisited the headquarters of UMNO in over 20 years after his sacking from UMNO and removal from government positions in September 1998 that sparked the Reformasi movement and the first time a DAP leader had visited the headquarters of UMNO. [7] Anwar subsequently announced the formation of three secretariat committees namely the elections committee, the strategy committee and the government and political agenda monitoring committee. [7]

The United Sabah People's Party is a minority political party based in Sabah, Malaysia. Presently PBRS is being led by its President Arthur Joseph Kurup. The party was previously led by its founding and first president; Joseph Kurup from 1994 to 2023. PBRS is officially a component party of Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition since 1994 except for a brief period from 2018 to 2020.

Ronald Kiandee is a Malaysian politician. A member of the Malaysian United Indigenous Party (BERSATU) and its Vice President since August 2020 and 2nd State Chairman of Sabah since December 2022, he has served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Beluran since November 1999. He served as Minister of Agriculture and Food Industries in the Perikatan Nasional (PN) administration under former Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin from March 2020 to the collapse of the PN administration in August 2021. He was reappointed to the same post for a second term in the Barisan Nasional (BN) administration under former Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob from August 2021 until the dissolution of the BN government in November 2022, when BN lost its reelection campaign in the 2022 general election. Prior to serving in the Cabinet, Kiandee was the Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) in the Pakatan Harapan (PH) administration from 2018 to 2019 and Deputy Speaker of the Dewan Rakyat I in the BN administration from 2008 to 2018. He is presently the sole MP of the Malaysian United Indigenous Party of Sabah and one of the only two Christian MPs of PN alongside Ali Biju.
The Sarawak Parties Alliance is a Sarawak-based national political alliance in Malaysia. It was established in 2018 by four former Barisan Nasional (BN) component parties operating solely in Sarawak following the federal coalition's defeat in the 2018 Malaysian general election. It is currently the fourth largest political coalition with 23 seats in the Dewan Rakyat, and forms the government in the state of Sarawak.
General elections were held in Malaysia on Saturday, 19 November 2022. The prospect of snap elections had been considered high due to the political crisis that had been ongoing since 2020; political instability caused by coalition or party switching among members of Parliament, combined with the fallout of the COVID-19 pandemic, contributed to the resignation of two prime ministers and the collapse of each of their respective coalition governments since the 2018 general elections.
The 2020–2022 Malaysian political crisis was triggered after several Members of Parliament (MPs) of the 14th Malaysian Parliament changed party support, leading to the loss of a parliamentary majority, the collapse of two successive coalition governments, and the resignation of two Prime Ministers. The political crisis culminated in a 2022 snap general election and eventual formation of a coalition government. This crisis ended in 2022 and Malaysian political crisis continued in the State of Sabah known as 2023 Kinabalu Move.
The Muhyiddin cabinet was formed on 10 March 2020, nine days after Muhyiddin Yassin was appointed as the 8th Prime Minister of Malaysia and dissolved 17 months and 6 days later on 16 August 2021, the day when Muhyiddin submitted his resignations as PM and of this cabinet. It was the 21st cabinet of Malaysia formed since independence. This cabinet was also known as the Perikatan Nasional Cabinet (PN-Cabinet) which combined 15 political parties from the Perikatan Nasional (PN) component parties, with Barisan Nasional (BN) component parties, Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) component parties and United Sabah Party (PBS) as allied partners providing confidence and supply.
The National Alliance is a political coalition that was previously known as the Malaysian Party Alliance Association. It is the second largest political coalition in Dewan Rakyat with 74 seats after Pakatan Harapan (PH) with 81 seats.

Hajiji bin Haji Noor is a Malaysian politician who has served as the 16th Chief Minister of Sabah since 2020 and Member of the Sabah State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Sulaman since 1990. Sabah People's Coalition, officially Gabungan Rakyat Sabah Party is a Malaysian coalition of Sabah-based parties. It was established in 2020 and then registered in 2022 by former United Alliance of Sabah (UAS) and United Borneo Alliance (UBA) component parties operating solely in Sabah inspired by the formula of Sarawak-based coalition, Sarawak Parties Alliance (GPS).
The 16th Sabah State Legislative Assembly is the current term of the Sabah State Legislative Assembly, the legislative branch of the Government of Sabah in Sabah, Malaysia. The 16th Assembly consists of 79 members that 73 members were elected in the 2020 Sabah election and 6 members were nominated by the Government and is serving from 26 October 2020 until the next state election.
The Social Democratic Harmony Party is a regional political party based in Sabah, Malaysia founded by Peter Anthony and Juil Nuatim. It aims to represent the interests of the Kadazan-Dusun and Murut people. The KDM is currently aligned to the government as a partner, providing confidence and supply to the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) state ruling coalition led by Chief Minister Hajiji Noor. The party picked the acronym KDM, which is a common reference to the native Kadazandusun and Murut communities which the party represents.
Datuk Armizan bin Mohd Ali is a Malaysian politician who has served as the Head of the Organizational Body of the Direct Members faction of Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (DM-GRS) as well as the founder and manager of the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah Student Wing (GRSSW) who was appointed in 2022. He has served as the Minister of Domestic Trade and Costs of Living in the Unity Government administration under Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim since July 2023. He served in the position in acting capacity from July to December 2023. He has also served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Papar since November 2022. He served as the Minister in the Prime Minister's Department in charge of Sabah, Sarawak Affairs and Special Functions in the PH administration under Prime Minister Anwar from December 2022 to December 2023. He is a direct member of the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) and was a member of the Malaysian United Indigenous Party of Sabah, branch of a component party of the GRS and formerly Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalitions. He was also a member of the United Malays National Organisation of Sabah, branch of a component party of the Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition.
Malaysian United Indigenous Party of Sabah, also abbreviated as Sabah BERSATU or Sabah PPBM, is the Malaysian United Indigenous Party (BERSATU) branch in Sabah, Malaysia.
United Malays National Organisation of Sabah, also abbreviated as Sabah UMNO, is a branch of the United Malays National Organisation in Sabah, Malaysia. Sabah UMNO supported and was part of the federal government under Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim. Sabah UMNO also had one elected representatives holding a deputy ministerial positions respectively in the Anwar Ibrahim cabinet. This branch of UMNO was an independently-built branch in 2018 until 2021, the branch merged back to BN Central Leadership after suffering a split between Ketua Wanita UMNO cawangan Kota Kinabalu and the rebel group between Pemuda UMNO Tuaran and Sipitang.
The 2023 Sabah political crisis or widely reported on local media as Langkah Kinabalu or the Kinabalu Move, began on 6 January 2023, when the state government of Sabah led by Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) collapsed when its coalition party Barisan Nasional (BN) withdrew its support. The Leader of UMNO Sabah, a component party of BN, Bung Moktar Radin, Kinabatangan Member of Parliament (MP) and Lamag Assemblyman, cited a lack of confidence in the leadership of Chief Minister of Sabah Hajiji Noor in the withdrawal. UMNO Sabah want to change support from supporting GRS coalition to supporting the WARISAN Plus coalition. On 9 January, both Malaysian leaders, prime minister Anwar Ibrahim and deputy prime minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi travelled to Kota Kinabalu to meet with Sabah political leaders. This crisis resulted in the approval of the Anti-Switching Parties Law in Sabah (approved in 25 May 2023).
In Malaysian politics, a frog refers to an act where a politician crosses the bench from one party to another (changing support). This term was first coined in during the 1994 Sabah state elections after United Sabah Party losing its majority even the party won the state elections. Despite its usage nationwide, it is more familiar within the state of Sabah. Since May 25, 2023, nine (9) states of Malaysia has approved the Parties hopping prevention law also known as the "Anti-Switching Parties Law" or "Anti-Hopping Parties Law" for both Parliament and State legislative assembly including Sabah and Sarawak.
