Perlis,also known by its honorific title Perlis Indera Kayangan,is a state of Malaysia in the northwestern coast of Peninsular Malaysia. It is the smallest state in Malaysia by area and population,as well as the northernmost in the country. The state borders the Thai provinces of Satun and Songkhla to the north and the Malaysian state of Kedah to the south. Perlis is the only Malaysian state that is not divided into districts,due to its small size,but it is still divided into several communes. It was called Palit by the Siamese when it was under their influence. Perlis had a population of 227,025 as of the 2010 census.

He has served as President of PDP since November 2017. In accordance with its expansion to West Malaysia in November 2017,the party was rebranded with its new name and logo from the Sarawak Progressive Democratic Party (SPDP),a former component party of the BN coalition. He served as the 3rd Chairman of the BN Backbenchers Club from April 2008 to June 2013. He also served as President of SPDP from May 2014 to November 2017 and Deputy President of SPDP from March 2012 to his promotion to the SPDP presidency in May 2014 and previously the Treasurer-General of SPDP. Following the collapse of the BN administration after the 2018 general election and in the aftermath,a meeting between all Sarawak-based BN component parties was held on 12 June 2018,PDP decided to leave the coalition with the other three parties to form a new Sarawak-based political coalition in the meeting,namely the GPS coalition.
Hamzah bin Abu Samah was a Malaysian politician,lawyer and sports administrator who served as the president of Asian Football Confederation from 9 December 1978 to 1 August 1994. In 2006,he was conferred the FIFA Order of Merit for his contribution towards Asian football. He also one of the fourth Malaysian to join the exclusive club of AFC Diamond of Asia Award with Dato' Seri Najib Tun Razak,Sultan Ahmad Shah and Sultan Abdullah.

He served as the Senator from May 2014 to May 2017 and again from August 2017 to August 2020. He is a member of the Malaysian United Indigenous Party (BERSATU),a component party of the Perikatan Nasional (PN) and formerly Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalitions and was a member of the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO),a component party of the Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition. He is the State Chairman of BERSATU of Kedah. On 28 November 2018,Mohd Suhaimi left UMNO for BERSATU.

The 2023 Sabah political crisis or widely reported on local media as Langkah Kinabalu or the Kinabalu Move,began on 6 January 2023,when the state government of Sabah led by Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) collapsed when its coalition party Barisan Nasional (BN) withdrew its support. The Leader of UMNO Sabah,a component party of BN,Bung Moktar Radin,Kinabatangan Member of Parliament (MP) and Lamag Assemblyman,cited a lack of confidence in the leadership of Chief Minister of Sabah Hajiji Noor in the withdrawal. UMNO Sabah want to change support from supporting GRS coalition to supporting the WARISAN Plus coalition. On 9 January,both Malaysian leaders,prime minister Anwar Ibrahim and deputy prime minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi travelled to Kota Kinabalu to meet with Sabah political leaders. This crisis resulted in the approval of the Anti-Switching Parties Law in Sabah (approved in 25 May 2023).
Shuaib bin Haji Lazim,sometimes misspelled as Shuib bin Lazim,was a Malaysian politician,businessman and teacher who served as the Senator in the Malaysian parliament from April 1988 to July 1991. He was also a Member of the Kedah State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Pantai Merdeka from March 1990 to October 1990 and hold the position of Treasurer of Perkasa.
