The People's Justice Party,is a reformist political party in Malaysia formed on 3 August 2003 through a merger of the party's predecessor,the National Justice Party,with the socialist Malaysian People's Party. The party's predecessor was founded by Wan Azizah Wan Ismail during the height of the Reformasi movement on 4 April 1999 after the arrest of her husband,former Deputy Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim. At the 2022 Malaysian general election,the PH coalition which the PKR was part of was returned to power again,albeit without a majority,leading it to form a unity government with political rivals. The party is one of main partners of the Pakatan Harapan (PH) ruling coalition in Malaysia.
Tan Chee Khoon was a major figure in Malaysian politics from 1959 to 1978,at one point being nicknamed "Mr. Opposition" for the outspoken views he presented in Parliament. He was the official Leader of the Opposition in Parliament from 1964 to 1969. Although he was originally a leader of the Labour Party of Malaya and the Socialist Front coalition which Labour had joined,Tan later co-founded Parti Gerakan Rakyat Malaysia (Gerakan),and also Parti Keadilan Masyarakat Malaysia (Pekemas) after he became disillusioned with Gerakan.

Chua Tian Chang,better known as Tian Chua,is a Malaysian politician who served as Special Advisor to the Minister of Works from March 2019 to February 2020 and Member of Parliament (MP) for Batu from March 2008 to May 2018. He is an independent and was a member of the People's Justice Party (PKR),a component party of the Pakatan Harapan (PH) and formerly Pakatan Rakyat (PR) as well as Barisan Alternatif (BA) coalitions. He served as Vice-President of PKR from the founding of PKR in April 1999 to July 2022 and Information Chief of PKR from April 2004 to March 2008 and Division Chief of Batu of PKR before July 2022.
Mohamed Azmin bin Ali is a Malaysian politician who has served as the State Leader of the Opposition of Selangor and Member of the Selangor State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Hulu Kelang since August 2023. Formerly a member of the Malaysian Parliament for Gombak from 2008 to 2022,Azmin served in the cabinets of Muhyiddin Yassin and Ismail Sabri Yaakob as Senior Minister of the Economic Cluster and Minister of International Trade and Industry from 2020 to 2022. A member of Malaysian United Indigenous Party (BERSATU),which is a component party of Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition. He also served as MLA for Bukit Antarabangsa from 2008 to 2023 and for Hulu Kelang from 1999 to 2004. He has also served as the 2nd Secretary-General of PN since December 2024 and 4th Secretary-General of BERSATU since November 2024. He served as the Information Chief of PN and Member of the Supreme Council of BERSATU. He is also widely regarded as a key figure in the 2020–2022 Malaysian political crisis,playing an important role in the fall of the PH federal government in February 2020.
Dato' Ngeh Koo Ham,also known as James Ngeh,is a Malaysian politician,advocate and solicitor who has served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Beruas since March 2008. He served as Speaker of the Perak State Legislative Assembly from July 2018 to May 2020,Member of the Perak State Executive Council (EXCO) in the Pakatan Rakyat (PR) administration under former Menteri Besar Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin from March 2008 to the collapse of the PR administration in February 2009 and Member of the Assembly (MLA) for Sitiawan from March 2004 to May 2018. He is a member of the Democratic Action Party (DAP),a component party of the Pakatan Harapan (PH) and formerly PR,Barisan Alternatif (BA) and Gagasan Rakyat (GR) coalitions. He was also Deputy Secretary-General of DAP,Member of the Central Executive Committee (CEC) of DAP and State Chairman of DAP of Perak.

Tan Kee Kwong is a Malaysian politician of Chinese origin. He served as a Member of Parliament for Wangsa Maju representing People's Justice Party (PKR) of Pakatan Harapan coalition between 2013 and 2018. Previously,he was the Parti Gerakan Rakyat Malaysia (Gerakan) Member of Parliament for Segambut for three terms from 1995 to 2008 and was the deputy minister of Land and Cooperative Development from 1999 to 2004 in the Barisan Nasional (BN) federal government. He later joined PKR in 2008 and currently sat on the party disciplinary board.

The prospect of snap elections had been considered high due to the political crisis that had been ongoing since 2020;political instability caused by coalition or party switching among members of Parliament,combined with the fallout of the COVID-19 pandemic,contributed to the resignation of two prime ministers and the collapse of each of their respective coalition governments since the 2018 general elections.
The 2020–2022 Malaysian political crisis was triggered after several Members of Parliament (MPs) of the 14th Malaysian Parliament changed party support,leading to the loss of a parliamentary majority,the collapse of two successive coalition governments,and the resignation of two Prime Ministers. The political crisis culminated in a 2022 snap general election and eventual formation of a coalition government. This crisis ended in 2022 and Malaysian political crisis continued in the State of Sabah known as 2023 Kinabalu Move.
Dominic Lau Hoe Chai is a Malaysian politician who had served as a Senator from November 2021 to November 2024. He is currently the 6th President of the Parti Gerakan Rakyat Malaysia (GERAKAN),a component party of the Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition. Amira Aisya Binti Abd Aziz is a Malaysian politician who has served as Member of the Johor State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Puteri Wangsa since March 2022. She is a co-founder and member of the Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (MUDA). She has also served as the Acting President of MUDA since the resignation of Syed Saddiq in November 2023 and the 1st Deputy President of MUDA since July 2022. She served as the 2nd Secretary-General of MUDA from August 2021 to July 2022. In addition,she is presently the youngest MLA of Johor,the first female Puteri Wangsa MLA and the only MLA from her party.
