In Malaysia, the Menteri Besar, colloquially referred to as MB, is the head of government of each of nine states in Malaysia with monarchs. For four states without a monarch, the title Chief Minister, is used except for Sarawak where it uses Premier (Premier). The title "Menteri Besar" is usually untranslated in the English media in Malaysia, but is typically translated as 'Chief Minister' by foreign media. According to protocol, all Menteris Besar, Chief Ministers and Premier are styled Yang Amat Berhormat, which means "The Most Honourable".

Previously he was also the Minister of Social Welfare (1984–1986), Minister of Federal Territories (1986–1987), Minister of Foreign Affairs (1987–1992) and Minister of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (1992–1997). He was also a former Member of Parliament for Kuala Selangor (1978–1997) and Selangor state assemblyman for Permatang (1997–1999) in Selangor.

He was the President of the Malaysian Senate from 2003 to 2009, Deputy Speaker of the Malaysian House of Representatives from 1984 to 1986, and was the Chief Minister of the State of Perlis from 1986 to 1995. Jamaluddin bin Mohd Radzi is a Malaysian politician. He was the state assemblyman for Behrang. In early 2009, along with Mohd Osman Mohd Jailu and Hee Yit Fong, he resigned from the People's Justice Party (PKR) to sit as an independent, supporting the fall of the Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin-led government and precipitating the 2009 Perak Constitutional crisis.
