Abdul Ghani bin Ahmad JP (born 3 June 1970) is a Malaysian politician who has served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Jerlun since November 2022. He served as Member of the Kedah State Executive Council (EXCO) in the Pakatan Rakyat (PR) state administration under former Menteri Besar Azizan Abdul Razak from March 2010 to the collapse of the PR state administration in May 2013 as well as Member of the Kedah State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Ayer Hitam from November 1999 to March 2004 and again from March 2008 to May 2018. He is a member of the Malaysian Islamic Party (PAS),a component party of the Perikatan Nasional (PN) and formerly PR coalitions. [1] [2]
Abdul Ghani was first elected to the Kedah Assembly for Ayer Hitam in the 1999 state election,but was defeated in 2004 by Othman Aziz of Barisan Nasional (BN).
In the 2008 state election,Abdul Ghani regained the seat in a rematch against Othman. [3] With PR defeating BN in the 2008 state election and seeing the first ever transition of power in the history of Kedah as well as ending the 60-year rule of BN of the state, [4] Abdul Ghani was appointed as an Kedah EXCO Member by Menteri Besar Azizan in March 2010. [2]
In the 2013 state election,BN regained power by defeating PR and Abdul Ghani also lost his state seat to Mukhriz Mahathir of BN.
In the 2018 general election,Abdul Ghani moved to the federal politics and lost to Mukhriz again,but of Pakatan Harapan (PH) in the contest for the Jerlun federal seat.
In the 2022 general election,Abdul Ghani defeated defending MP Mukhriz of the Homeland Fighters Party (PEJUANG) and other candidates in the contest for the same federal seat.

Dato' Seri Utama Mukhriz bin Tun Dr. Mahathir is a Malaysian politician and businessman served as the 11th and 13th Menteri Besar of Kedah from May 2013 to February 2016 and again from May 2018 to May 2020,Deputy Minister of International Trade and Industry in the Barisan Nasional (BN) administration under former Prime Ministers Abdullah Ahmad Badawi and Najib Razak as well as former Minister Mustapa Mohamed from March 2008 to May 2013,Member of Parliament (MP) for Jerlun from March 2008 to May 2013 and again from May 2018 to November 2022 as well as Member of the Kedah State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Jitra from May 2018 to August 2023 and for Ayer Hitam from May 2013 to May 2018. He is the third son of Mahathir Mohamad,the 4th,7th and former Prime Minister of Malaysia. He has been the 1st and founding President of the Homeland Fighters Party (PEJUANG) since party foundation in August 2020. He was the 1st and founding Deputy President and State Chairman of Kedah of the Malaysian United Indigenous Party (BERSATU) from party foundation in September 2016 to his membership termination in May 2020 and was also the State Chairman of Kedah of the Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition. He was also a member of the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO),a component party of the BN coalition. He left UMNO with Mahathir and they founded BERSATU in 2016. Mahathir and his BERSATU memberships were terminated and they founded PEJUANG in 2020. He is one of the two Menteris Besar of Malaysia who represented two different political parties and coalitions.
Azizan bin Abdul Razak was a Malaysian politician who served as the 10th Menteri Besar of the state of Kedah from 2008 to 2013. A member of the Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party (PAS),he was the first Chief Minister of Kedah from a party other than the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO). He held the seat of Sungai Limau in the Kedah state assembly from 2004 until his death in 2013. He was also the state commissioner for PAS in Kedah and a member of the central committee of the national party.

Dato' Haji Phahrolrazi bin Haji Mohd Zawawi is a Malaysian politician who served as Member of the Kedah State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Alor Mengkudu from May 2018 to August 2023 and for Pengkalan Kundor from March 2008 to May 2018 as well as from December 1999 to March 2004,Leader of the Opposition of Kedah from July 2020 to October 2022 and Member of the Kedah State Executive Council (EXCO) in the Pakatan Rakyat (PR) state administration under former Menteri Besar Azizan Abdul Razak from March 2009 to February 2012. He is a member of the People's Justice Party (PKR),a component party of the Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition and was an independent,a member of the National Trust Party (AMANAH),also a component party of the PH coalition and a member of the Malaysian Islamic Party (PAS),a former component party of the PR coalition. He also served as State Chairman of AMANAH of Kedah from November 2019 to his removal from the party in October 2022. He was also the State Deputy Chairman of AMANAH of Kedah and State Deputy Commissioner of PAS of Kedah.
Khalid bin Abdul Samad is a Malaysian politician who served as the Minister of Federal Territories in the Pakatan Harapan (PH) administration under former Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad from July 2018 to the collapse of the PH administration in February 2020 and the Member of Parliament (MP) for Shah Alam from March 2008 to November 2022. He is a member,Communications Director and State Chairman of Kelantan of the National Trust Party (AMANAH),a component party of the PH coalition and was a member of the Malaysian Islamic Party (PAS),a former component party of the former Pakatan Rakyat (PR) and Barisan Alternatif (BA) coalitions. He is also the younger brother of Shahrir Abdul Samad,former Minister and MP of the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO),a component party of the Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition. Before PH and BN formed the federal coalition government in November 2022,they were opposing politically as both of them were in opposing political sides.

Dato' Wira Othman bin Aziz is a Malaysian politician. He was the member of the Parliament of Malaysia for the seat of Jerlun,Kedah,from 5 May 2013 to 10 May 2018. He previously served one term in the Kedah State Legislative Assembly from 21 March 2004 to 8 March 2008) and was the chairman of the Kedah Tourism Action Council. He is a member of the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO) in the previous ruling Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition.
Thomas Su Keong Siong is a Malaysian politician and lawyer who has served as the Member of the Pahang State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Ketari since November 2022. The 13th Kedah state election was held on 5 May 2013. Polling took place in 36 constituencies throughout the Malaysian state of Kedah,with each electing a State Assemblyman to the Kedah State Legislative Assembly. The election was conducted by the Malaysian Election Commission. The state election was held concurrently with the 2013 Malaysian general election.
Mohamed Taulan bin Mat Rasul is a Malaysian politician.
