Datuk Darell Leiking,also known as Ignatius Dorell Leiking (born 23 August 1971) is a Malaysian politician who has served as Member of the Sabah State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Moyog since September 2020. He served as the Minister of International Trade and Industry in the Pakatan Harapan (PH) administration under former Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad from July 2018 to the collapse of the PH administration in February 2020 and the Member of Parliament (MP) for Penampang from May 2013 to November 2022. He is a member of the Heritage Party (WARISAN) and was a member of the People's Justice Party (PKR),a component party of the PH and formerly Pakatan Rakyat (PR) coalitions. He has also served as the 1st and founding Deputy President of the WARISAN since party foundation in October 2016. [2] [3]
Darell is one of many Sabah politicians who fight for the state rights as enshrined in the Malaysia Agreement, [4] and he constantly urges the government to provide a definite solution to the problem of illegal immigrants in the state,especially the problems caused by Project IC with the huge influx of Filipino refugees,and to set to rest the North Borneo dispute once and for all. [5] [6] He has rejected controversial remarks made towards other minority groups by a prominent minister in the cabinet,which was echoed by Baru Bian of the People's Justice Party (PKR). [7] He has also spoken out against discrimination towards other ethnic groups by certain politicians. [8]
The 2018 general election saw the first ever transition of power in the Malaysian history. Then PH opposition coalition was elected as the government after defeating the ruling Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition. PH then formed the coalition government with WARISAN. On 2 July 2018,Darell was appointed as Minister of International Trade and Industry. On 24 February 2020,Darell lost his position after the PH government collapsed due to its loss of majority support in the Parliament.
In the 2013 general election,Darell made his electoral debut after being nominated by PR to contest for the Penampang federal seat. He won the seat and was elected to the Parliament as the Penampang MP for the first term after defeating Bernard Giluk Dompok of BN and Melania Annol of the Parti Aspirasi Rakyat Sarawak of Sabah (Sabah STAR) by a majority of 10,216 votes. In the 2018 general election,Darell was nominated by WARISAN to defend the Penampang seat. [10] [11] He defended the seat and was reelected as the Penampang MP for the second term after defeating his cousin Ceasar Mandela Malakun of BN,Cleftus Stephen Spine of the Homeland Solidarity Party (STAR) and Edwin Bosi of the Sabah Native Cooperation Party (PKAN) by a majority of 23,473 votes. In the 2022 general election,Darell was renominated by WARISAN to defend the Penampang seat. He lost the seat and was not reelected as the Penampang MP for the third term after losing to Ewon Benedick of PH by a minority of 14,410 votes.
In the 2020 Sabah state election,Darell was renominated by WARISAN to contest for the Moyog state seat. He won the seat and was elected into the Sabah State Legislative Assembly as the Moyog MLA for the first term after defeating Joseph Suleiman of STAR,John Chryso Masabal of the United Sabah Party (PBS),William Sampil of the Love Sabah Party (PCS),Marcel Annol of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP),Vinson Loijon of the Sabah People's Unity Party (PPRS) and independent candidate Robert Richard Foo by a majority of 5,935 votes.

Jeffrey Gapari Kitingan is a Malaysian politician who has served as the Deputy Chief Minister of Sabah I since January 2023 and State Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries of Sabah for the second term since September 2020. He served as the Deputy Chief Minister of Sabah II from October 2020 to his promotion in January 2023 and the first term in the position in May 2018. In January 2023,he was appointed as the Deputy Chief Minister I of Sabah succeeding Bung Mokhtar,who was dropped due to a political crisis. At the federal level,he served as the Deputy Minister of Tourism,Arts and Culture from March 2020 to his resignation in September 2020 and Deputy Minister of Housing and Local Government from August 1994 to May 1995. He served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Pensiangan from March 2008 to May 2018. He also served as Deputy Chief Minister of Sabah,State Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries,State Minister of Communications and Works,State Minister of Finance,State Minister of Industrial Development,State Minister of Resource Development and Enterprise and State Minister of Youth and Sports of Sabah under former Chief Ministers Joseph Pairin Kitingan,Sakaran Dandai,Salleh Said Keruak,Yong Teck Lee,Bernard Giluk Dompok,Osu Sukam,Chong Kah Kiat and Musa Aman in the BN state administration from 1985 to 2004. He was a founding member of the PBRS and was a member of the Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS). He was also the father of Arthur Joseph Kurup,the Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Security,Pensiangan MP and PBRS President. Kurup died in Kuala Lumpur on 17 April 2024,at the age of 79.
General elections were held in Malaysia on Wednesday,9 May 2018. At stake were all 222 seats in the Dewan Rakyat,the lower house of parliament. The 13th Parliament was dissolved by Prime Minister Najib Razak on 7 April 2018. It would have been automatically dissolved on 24 June 2018,five years after the first meeting of the first session of the 13th Parliament of Malaysia on 24 June 2013.
The 2013 Sabah state election was held on Sunday,5 May 2013 concurrently with the 13th Malaysian general election. 60 state seats were contested to elect the state legislature in the Malaysian state of Sabah. This was the 12th state election in Sabah. The state legislative assembly was dissolved on 3 April 2013 following the announcement by Najib Razak to dissolve the federal Parliament earlier on the same day. Sabahans would also elect 25 representatives to the federal legislature which would be covered as part of the general election.
This is a list of the members of the Dewan Rakyat of the 13th Parliament of Malaysia. The opposition coalition Pakatan Rakyat that contested the general elections in 2013 was dissolved after series of disagreements between two main parties,Democratic Action Party (DAP) and Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party (PAS). A new opposition coalition Pakatan Harapan was formed by the DAP,People's Justice Party (PKR) and newly formed party National Trust Party (AMANAH),consisting of ex-PAS members. Several ex-UMNO members have also formed their own party Malaysian United Indigenous Party (BERSATU) and have signed an electoral pact with Pakatan Harapan to contest the future general election and ensure straight fights against Barisan Nasional. The Heritage Party is a multi-racial political party in Malaysia which was rebranded and renamed from the Sabah Heritage Party,a Sabah-based party led by Shafie Apdal formed earlier on 17 October 2016 after its expansion into national level politics at the end of 2021.
Christina Liew is a Hong Kong-born Malaysian politician who has served as the State Minister of Tourism,Culture and Environment of Sabah for the second term in the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) state administration under Chief Minister Hajiji Noor since January 2023 and the first term in the Heritage Party (WARISAN) state administration under former Chief Minister Shafie Apdal from May 2018 to the collapse of the WARISAN administration in September 2020 as well as Member of the Sabah State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Api-Api since May 2013. She also served as the Deputy Chief Minister III in the WARISAN administration under Shafie from May 2018 to September 2020,and the Member of Parliament (MP) for Tawau from May 2018 to November 2022. She is a member and Division Chief of Api-Api of the People's Justice Party (PKR),a component party of the Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition and formerly Barisan Alternatif (BA) and Pakatan Rakyat (PR) coalitions. She has served as Vice President of PH since September 2017. She has also served as Member of the Central Leadership Council (MPP) of PKR and Division Chairperson of Kota Kinabalu of PKR since July 2022. Isnaraissah Munirah binti Majilis @ Fakharudy is a Malaysian politician and electrical engineer who has served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Kota Belud since May 2018. General elections were held in Malaysia on Saturday,19 November 2022. The prospect of snap elections had been considered high due to the political crisis that had been ongoing since 2020;political instability caused by coalition or party switching among members of Parliament,combined with the fallout of the COVID-19 pandemic,contributed to the resignation of two prime ministers and the collapse of each of their respective coalition governments since the 2018 general elections.
The United Progressive Kinabalu Organisation is a multiracial political party based in Sabah,Malaysia. The party was rebranded from its previous party's name,United Pasokmomogun Kadazandusun Murut Organisation using the same UPKO acronym;which was a widely known Kadazan-Dusun-Murut based party in 2019. The party had earlier been renamed once before in 1999 from its initial 1994 formation name of Sabah Democratic Party. In August 2021,UPKO has officially joined the Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition as a component party. It is one of the four component parties of the Pakatan Harapan ruling coalition in Malaysia.
The 2020 Sabah state election took place on 26 September 2020 to elect all 73 elected members of the 16th Sabah State Legislative Assembly. The previous Assembly was dissolved on 30 July 2020.
Datuk Ellron bin Angin is a Malaysian politician who has been the State Minister of Rural Development briefly in 2018 and currently the incumbent State Minister of Youth and Sports since 2020 in the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) state administration under Chief Minister Hajiji Noor. Ewon Benedick is a Malaysian politician who has served as Minister of Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development in the Anwar Ibrahim Cabinet since December 2022,the Member of Parliament (MP) for Penampang since November 2022 and Member of the Sabah State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Kadamaian since May 2018. He served as State Minister of Rural Development of Sabah in the Sabah Heritage Party (WARISAN) administration under former Chief Minister Shafie Apdal from May 2018 to the collapse of the WARISAN state administration in September 2020. He is a member of the United Progressive Kinabalu Organisation (UPKO),a component party of the PH coalition. He has served as the 3rd President of UPKO since January 2023 and the 2nd State Chairman of PH of Sabah since December 2024. He was also Vice President of UPKO before his promotion to the party presidency in January 2023. He is one of the two UPKO MPs and sole UPKO MLA. He was set to officially take over Wilfred Madius Tangau as the 3rd UPKO president after the UPKO party election in the party triennial delegates convention on 16 October 2022. However on 10 October 2022,the 14th Parliament was dissolved and the 2022 general election was to be held on 19 November 2022,the convention was delayed to 15 January 2023.

He is also the cousin of Alexander Nanta Linggi,the Minister of Works and MP for Kapit.
The Anwar Ibrahim cabinet is the current federal cabinet of Malaysia,formed on 3 December 2022,nine days after Anwar Ibrahim took office as the 10th Prime Minister of Malaysia. The composition of the cabinet was announced by Anwar a day earlier on 2 December 2022,consisting of most of the political coalitions and parties represented in the 15th Parliament. It was the 23rd cabinet of Malaysia formed since independence. Although Perikatan Nasional (PN) was also invited to join the government,it decided to decline the invitation and instead formed the opposition. The government is often referred to as "unity government".
