Datuk Joseph Salang Gandum (born 1 January 1951) is a Malaysian politician and former bank officer who served as the Deputy Minister of Information,Communications and Culture,Deputy Minister of Energy,Water and Communications and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs in the Barisan Nasional (BN) administration under former Prime Ministers Abdullah Ahmad Badawi,Najib Razak and former Ministers Rais Yatim,Shaziman Abu Mansor,Ahmad Shabery Cheek and Syed Hamid Albar from March 2004 to May 2013 as well as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Julau from November 1999 to May 2018. He is a member of the Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS),a component party of the ruling Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) and formerly BN coalitions and was a member of the Parti Bansa Dayak Sarawak (PBDS),also a component party of the BN coalition. He has served as the 2nd President of PRS since October 2021,when he has served in official capacity since April 2022 and in acting capacity from October 2021 to April 2022. He also served as the Deputy President of PRS from October 2018 to his official promotion to the party presidency in October 2021 and Secretary-General of PRS from October 2016 to his promotion to party deputy presidency in October 2018. In addition,he was also previously one of the vice-presidents of PRS,prior to being made party secretary-general. [1]
Salang was a bank officer before entering politics. He was elected to Parliament in the 1999 election. [2] He was originally a member (and deputy president) of the Sarawak Native People's Party (PBDS), [3] but sat in Parliament without a party after the PBDS was deregistered in 2004. He eventually joined the PRS ahead of the 2008 election. [2]
Salang has served in a number of government posts,including Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, [2] Deputy Minister of Energy,Water and Communications, [4] and Deputy Minister of Information,Communications and Culture. [5] He turned down reappointment to the deputy ministry after the 2013 election. [6]

The Sarawak Native People's Party or Malay:Parti Bansa Dayak Sarawak (PBDS) was a political party in the state of Sarawak in Malaysia. It was established in 1983,by Datuk Amar Leo Moggie Irok,after seceding from Sarawak National Party (SNAP) following his loss in the contest for the SNAP's president post against Datuk Amar James Wong Kim Ming.
Datuk Seri Panglima Mohd Shafie bin Apdal is a Malaysian politician who has served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Semporna since April 1995,State Leader of the Opposition of Sabah since September 2020 and Member of the Sabah State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Senallang since May 2018. He served as the 15th Chief Minister and the State Minister of Finance of Sabah from May 2018 to September 2020,Minister of Rural and Regional Development from April 2009 to July 2015 and Vice-President of the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO),a component party of the ruling Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition. He has served as the 1st and founding President of Heritage Party (WARISAN) since October 2016. He lost the power as Chief Minister of Sabah following the defeat of his coalition WARISAN + in the 2020 state election.
The Sarawak National Party known by its acronym as "SNAP",is now a defunct political party in Malaysia. It was a member party of the Alliance Party from 1963 to 1966 and a member of Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition from 1976 until its expulsion in 2004. It contested the General Election in 2004 as well as the Sarawak state elections of 2006 and 2011 as an opposition party.

Zahid has been the Member of Parliament (MP) for Bagan Datuk since April 1995.

He served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Pensiangan from March 2008 to May 2018. He also served as Deputy Chief Minister of Sabah,State Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries,State Minister of Communications and Works,State Minister of Finance,State Minister of Industrial Development,State Minister of Resource Development and Enterprise and State Minister of Youth and Sports of Sabah under former Chief Ministers Joseph Pairin Kitingan,Sakaran Dandai,Salleh Said Keruak,Yong Teck Lee,Bernard Giluk Dompok,Osu Sukam,Chong Kah Kiat and Musa Aman in the BN state administration from 1985 to 2004. He was a founding member of the PBRS and was a member of the Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS). He was also the father of Arthur Joseph Kurup,the Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Security,Pensiangan MP and PBRS President. Kurup died in Kuala Lumpur on 17 April 2024,at the age of 79.
Dato Sri Haji Fadillah bin Haji Yusof is a Malaysian politician and lawyer who has served as the Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia since 2022,Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation since 2023 and the Member of Parliament (MP) for Petra Jaya since March 2004. He is the first DPM from Sarawak,one of the Borneo states in Malaysia and the second DPM not from the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO) after Wan Azizah Wan Ismail from the People's Justice Party (PKR).
Dato' Sri Richard Riot anak Jaem is a Malaysian politician who has served as Special Envoy of the Prime Ministers Muhyiddin Yassin,Ismail Sabri Yaakob and Anwar Ibrahim to East Asia since May 2020 and the Member of Parliament (MP) for Serian since October 1990. He served as Minister of Human Resources and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs in the BN administration under former Prime Minister Najib Razak and former Minister Anifah Aman from June 2010 to May 2018. The Parti Rakyat Sarawak or PRS is a multiracialist &nationalist political party in Sarawak and Malaysia overall. The party was founded in the wake of the de-registration of the Parti Bansa Dayak Sarawak and later Sarawak National Party in December 2003 by a breakaway faction led by the late Tan Sri Dr. James Jemut Masing and Dato' Sng Chee Hua. It is one of the former constituent members of the Barisan Nasional. PRS is currently the second largest local political party in Sarawak,after PBB. Following the fall of BN in the 2018 general election and in the aftermath of meeting between all Sarawak-based BN coalition parties on 12 June 2018,PRS left the coalition to form a new Sarawak-based coalition of Sarawak Parties Alliance. As of August 2023,the party's membership population is only 348,700 members. Currently,there are 135 Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) branches which are actively found throughout Sarawak.
Tan Sri Datuk Amar Dr. James Jemut Masing was a Malaysian politician who served as the Deputy Chief Minister,State Minister of Infrastructure and Ports Development of Sarawak under Chief Ministers Adenan Satem and Abang Abdul Rahman Johari Abang Openg as well as Member of the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Baleh from May 2016,January 2017 and December 1983 to his death in October 2021 respectively.
Datuk Larry Sng Wei Shien,is a Taiwanese-born Malaysian politician who has served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Julau since May 2018. He served as Member of the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Pelagus from September 2001 to April 2011. He was previously the State Chairman of the People's Justice Party (PKR) of Sarawak,a component party of the Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition. On 28 February 2021,he left PKR to become an independent again and declared support for the ruling Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition. He is currently the President of Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM) and has served in this role since January 2022. Following the 2022 general election,he is presently the sole PBM MP and his party is aligned to the Unity Government.
