NTV is an Indian Telugu-language news channel established by Tummala Narendra Choudary on 30 August 2007. [1] [2] [3] The channel is named after the founder Narendra Choudary who also serves as its Chairman while his wife Tummala Rama Devi is the Managing Director. [4] NTV's parent company is Rachana Television Pvt. Ltd (RTPL). [5] [6] [7] RTPL also owns the devotional channel Bhakthi TV [5] and women-focused channel Vanitha TV. [6]

As per Media Ownership Monitor 2018, Narendra Choudary and family own 66.2% of RTPL, while P. P. Reddy, the founder and chairman of Megha Engineering Infrastructure Limited (MEIL) owns 22.8% of the company, and Jupally Rameswar Rao, chairman of My Home Group owns 11%. [6] [8]

History

NTV was launched by Tummala Narendra Choudary as a 24x7 Telugu-language news channel on 30 August 2007. [2] [3] The tagline of the channel is Prathi Kshaṇam Praja Hitham. [9] The channel became popular for the accurate estimation of election results. [2]

Ownership

NTV's parent company is Rachana Television Pvt. Ltd (RTPL). [6] Rachana also owns devotional channel Bhakthi TV and women-focused channel Vanitha TV. [7] RTPL was incorporated in 2006. [6] The company management (Narendra Choudary and family) also has interests in publishing (Rachana Publishers Private Limited), Infrastructure Development (Sri Rachana Infra Developers, and Sunshine Infraholdings), etc. [6] [7]

Megha Engineering & Infrastructure Ltd (MEIL) held 26% of the shareholding in RTPL in 2012-13 and 24% in 2013-14. The promoter, Narendra Choudary, held 69% in 2012-13 and 68% in 2013-14. [7]

Zoji La Tunnel is an under-construction 9.5 m wide, 7.57 m high and 14.2 km long, horseshoe-shaped single-tube, 2 lane road tunnel at the height of 11,575 feet above sea level which passes under the Zoji La pass in the Himalayas between Ganderbal of Kashmir (J&K) and Drass town in Kargil district of Ladakh. The project cost for this smart tunnel (SCADA) system, constructed using the New Austrian tunneling method and equipped with CCTV, radio control, uninterrupted power supply, ventilation, etc is INR 8,308 crore as per 2021 estimates. Together with the adjacent Z-Morh Tunnel, this geostrategically important tunnel on the NH1 Srinagar-Leh Highway will provide year around weather-proof connectivity to Ladakh and Baltal, reduce the earlier 1-1.5 hours travel time to just 15 minutes drive, boost the tourism and economy, and enhance the logistics of the Indian Armed Forces. It is one of the 31 road tunnels being constructed at a combined cost of INR1400 billion.
