The peninsula is named after Akamas, a son of Theseus, hero of the Trojan War and founder of the city-kingdom of Soli.

Cape Greco, also known as Capo Greco, is a headland in the southeastern part of the island of Cyprus. It is at the southern end of Famagusta Bay and forms part of Ayia Napa Municipality. It lies between the towns of Ayia Napa and Protaras, both tourist resorts, and is visited by tourists for its natural environment. It is the easternmost point of both the Republic of Cyprus and the European Union. According to local legend, it is also the home of the 'Ayia Napa sea monster'.

Religion in Cyprus is dominated by Eastern Orthodox branch of Christianity, whose adherents make up 73% of the total population of the entire island. Most Greek Cypriots are members of the autocephalous Greek Orthodox 'Church of Cyprus'. Most Turkish Cypriots are officially Sunni Muslims. There are also Baháʼí, Catholic, Jewish, Protestant, Maronite, Armenian Apostolic, and non-religious communities in Cyprus.

Jason deCaires Taylor is a British sculptor and creator of the world's first underwater sculpture park – the Molinere Underwater Sculpture Park – and underwater museum – Cancún Underwater Museum. He is best known for installing site-specific underwater sculptures that develop into artificial coral reefs, which local communities and marine life depend on. Taylor integrates his skills as a sculptor, marine conservationist, underwater photographer and scuba diving instructor into each of his projects. By using a fusion of Land Art traditions and subtly integrating aspects of street art, Taylor produces dynamic sculptural works that are installed on the ocean floor to encourage marine life, to promote ocean conservation and to highlight the current climate crisis.

Nicolas George Ioannou, also known as "Rudy", is a Cypriot yacht and speedboat manufacturer since 1991, and a property developer. He is the CEO of several companies including Coast and Hills Developments. He has investments in hotels and residential towers as well as marina developments. Ioannou has been appointed by the Cypriot president as honorary consul of Cyprus in the Sinai Peninsula.

The 2016–17 Cypriot Second Division was the 62nd season of the Cypriot second-level football league. It began on 16 September 2016 and ended on 25 March 2017. Alki Oroklini won their first title.

The 2017–18 Cypriot Cup was the 76th edition of the Cypriot Cup. A total of 22 clubs were accepted to enter the competition. It began on 29 November 2019 with the first round and concluded on 16 May 2018 with the final held at GSP Stadium. The winner of the Cup was AEK Larnaca for second time and qualified for the 2018–19 Europa League second qualifying round.

Parko Paliatso Luna Park is an amusement park in Ayia Napa, Cyprus. It's the largest amusement park in Cyprus built on a 30,000 m2 land. It's a free-to-enter amusement park.

The 2019–20 Cypriot Second Division is the 65th season of the Cypriot second-level football league. It began on 20 September 2019 and ended in March 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
