The Nepal cricket team toured Kenya in August and September 2022 to play five Twenty20 International (T20I) matches and three 50-over matches. [1] [2] This was the first series in charge for Nepal's new head coach Manoj Prabhakar, after Pubudu Dassanayake resigned in July 2022. [3] [4] This series was Nepal cricket team's first visit to Kenya. [5] This was also the first international cricket at the Gymkhana Club Ground for 10 years. [6]

Nepal won the opening fixture of the T20I series by five wickets, [7] [8] before the hosts levelled the series with an 18-run victory in the second match. [9] Nepal regained the series lead with a narrow win, former captain Gyanendra Malla top-scoring with 46 in a successful run chase. [10] Kenya again levelled the series, defending a score of just 101 to win the fourth match by 7 runs, [11] despite Nepal's captain Sandeep Lamichhane earlier taking his first five-wicket haul in T20Is. [12] Nepal won the final game by 31 runs to claim a 3–2 series victory. [13] [14] Sandeep Lamichhane was named player of the series after taking 12 wickets. [15] This tournament marked the return of international cricket to Kenya after more than a decade. Mumbai based firm sports and media works (SMW) were the commercial partners & producers of the event. [16]

The Nepal National Cricket Team nicknamed The Rhinos,Gorkhalis and The Cardiac Kids represents the country of Nepal in International cricket and is governed by the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN). They have been an Associate Member of the International Cricket Council (ICC) since 1996. Nepal were awarded Twenty20 International (T20I) status by the ICC in June 2014 until the 2015 ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier. Gyanendra Malla is a Nepalese professional cricketer and the former captain of the Nepal national Team. He is a right-handed batsman and an occasional wicket-keeper. He made his debut for Nepal against Namibia in March 2006. He was one of the eleven cricketers to play in Nepal's first ever One Day International (ODI) match, against the Netherlands, in August 2018.

The 2015–2017 ICC World Cricket League Championship was the second edition of the ICC World Cricket League Championship. It took place from 2015 until 2017, in parallel with the 2015-17 ICC Intercontinental Cup. Both Ireland and Afghanistan had been promoted to the main ICC ODI Championship and did not compete in this tournament. Instead, Kenya and Nepal were included in the tournament. The tournament was played in a round-robin format. All matches were recorded as List A matches, and those in which both teams had ODI status were also recorded as ODIs.

Sandeep Lamichhane is a Nepalese cricketer who captained the Nepalese national team, He is widely regarded as one of the best spinners of his generation and greatest spinners Nepal has ever produced.

The Nepalese cricket team toured the Netherlands in August 2018 to play two One Day Internationals (ODIs) matches against the Dutch cricket team. They were the first ODI matches to be played by Nepal since they were awarded ODI status by the International Cricket Council (ICC) during the 2018 Cricket World Cup Qualifier. It was the first ODI series to be played in the Netherlands since 2013, when South Africa played a one-off match, and the first ODI matches to be played by the Netherlands since the 2014 Cricket World Cup Qualifier tournament.

The 2020 Nepal Tri-Nation Series was the fifth round of the 2019–2023 ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 cricket tournament and took place in Nepal in February 2020. It was a tri-nation series between Nepal, Oman and the United States cricket teams, with the matches played as One Day International (ODI) fixtures. The ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 formed part of the qualification pathway to the 2023 Cricket World Cup. The matches were the first ODIs to be played in Nepal. On 20 January 2020, the United States confirmed their squad for the series, with Steven Taylor stripped of his vice-captaincy role for disciplinary issues, but being retained in the squad.

The 2022 Asia Cup Qualification was a men's cricket tournament which took place in Oman in August 2022 to determine qualification for the 2022 Asia Cup. The 2020 editions of the ACC Western and Eastern regional T20 tournaments were held in February and March of the same year by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC). Thirteen teams competed, with the aim of progressing to the qualifier. These were scheduled to be followed by the Asia Cup Qualifier tournament in Malaysia, which was due to be played in August 2020. However, in July 2020 the Asia Cup was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, resulting in the postponement of the qualifier. In May 2021, the Asian Cricket Council confirmed that there would be no Asia Cup in 2021, with that edition of the tournament deferred until 2023. It was later announced that there would be a T20I Asia Cup in 2022, to be hosted by the United Arab Emirates.

The 2022 United States Tri-Nation Series was the 13th round of the 2019–2023 ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 cricket tournament that took place in the United States in June 2022. It was a tri-nation series between Nepal, Oman and the United States cricket teams, with the matches played as One Day International (ODI) fixtures. The ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 forms part of the qualification pathway to the 2023 Cricket World Cup. In April 2022, USA Cricket confirmed all the fixtures for the series, with all the matches taking place at the Moosa Stadium in Pearland.

The 2022 United Arab Emirates Tri-Nation Series was the 10th round of the 2019–2023 ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 cricket tournament that took place in the United Arab Emirates in March 2022. Originally scheduled to take place in February 2023, it was moved back to March 2022 due to fixtures impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic being rearranged.

The 2019–20 Singapore Tri-Nation Series was a cricket tournament that was held from 27 September to 3 October 2019 in Singapore. It was a tri-nation series featuring Singapore, Nepal and Zimbabwe, with all the matches played as Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is). Singapore used the series as preparation for their first appearance in the ICC T20 World Cup Qualifier in October 2019. It was the first T20I tri-series to be played in Singapore.

Men's cricket at the 2019 South Asian Games was held in Kirtipur, Nepal from 3 to 9 December 2019. The men's tournament featured under-23 squads from Bangladesh and Sri Lanka and senior squads from Bhutan, Maldives and Nepal. India and Pakistan did not participate.

The 2022 ICC Men's T20 World Cup Global Qualifier A was a cricket tournament that took place in February 2022 in Oman, as one of two global tournaments that together form the final stage of the qualification process for the 2022 ICC Men's T20 World Cup. In April 2018, the International Cricket Council (ICC) granted full international status to Twenty20 men's matches played between member sides from 1 January 2019 onwards. Therefore, all the matches in the Global Qualifiers were Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is).

The 2020 Prime Minister Cup was the fourth edition of the Prime Minister One Day Cup, the premier one-day cricket tournament in Nepal. The tournament was contested by teams representing the seven Provinces of Nepal as well as three departmental teams. It began on 15 January 2021 and ended on 30 January 2021. All matches of the tournament were broadcast live by DishHome's "Action Sports" channel. Nepal Police Club were the defending champions, but were eliminated at the semi-final stage by Armed Police Force Club. Tribhuwan Army Club won the title following a 33-run win over APF Club in the final.

The 2021–22 Oman Quadrangular Series was a Twenty20 International (T20I) cricket tournament that took place in Oman in February 2022. The participating teams were the hosts Oman along with Ireland, Nepal and the United Arab Emirates. The series provided all four teams with preparation for the T20 World Cup Global Qualifier Group A, which began on 18 February 2022.

The 2023 United Arab Emirates Tri-Nation Series was the 20th round of the 2019–2023 ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 cricket tournament, which took place in the United Arab Emirates in February and March 2023. It was a tri-nation series between United Arab Emirates, Nepal and Papua New Guinea with the matches played in the One Day International (ODI) format. The World Cup League 2 tournament forms part of the qualification process for the 2023 Cricket World Cup.

Bibek Kumar Yadav is a Nepalese cricketer who plays for the Nepal national team. In February 2022, he was named in Nepal's Twenty20 International (T20I) squad for the 2021–22 Oman Quadrangular Series. Yadav made his T20I debut on 11 February 2022, for Nepal against Oman. In March 2022, he was named in Nepal's One Day International (ODI) squad for the 2022 United Arab Emirates Tri-Nation Series. He has been representing Madhesh Province Cricket Team in domestic cricket.

The 2021–22 Nepal T20I Tri-Nation Series was a Twenty20 International (T20I) cricket tournament that took place in Nepal from 28 March to 4 April 2022. The participating teams were the hosts Nepal along with Malaysia and Papua New Guinea. The matches were played at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur. On 12 March 2022, the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) confirmed all the fixtures.

The Uganda women's cricket team toured Nepal in May 2022 to play a five-match bilateral Women's Twenty20 International (WT20I) series. All of the matches in the series were played at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur. These were the first Women's T20I matches played at Kirtipur. The series was used by Uganda as preparation for the 2022 Kwibuka Tournament.

The United Arab Emirates national cricket team toured Nepal in November 2022 to play three One Day International (ODI) matches. All the three matches were played in Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground. The series provided Nepal with preparation for a tri-series in Namibia in December 2022, part of Cricket World Cup League 2.

The 2023 Nepal Tri-Nation Series was the 21st, and last, round of the 2019–2023 ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 cricket tournament took place in Nepal in March 2023. It was a tri-nation series between Nepal, Papua New Guinea and the United Arab Emirates cricket teams, with the matches played as One Day International (ODI) fixtures. The ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 formed part of the qualification pathway to the 2023 Cricket World Cup. Going into the final series of the League 2 tournament, Nepal required four wins from four games to claim the third and final automatic place in the 2023 Cricket World Cup Qualifier, at the expense of Namibia.
