The 2022 Malaysia Quadrangular Series was a Twenty20 International (T20I) cricket tournament took place in Malaysia in July 2022. [1] The participating teams were the hosts Malaysia along with Bhutan, Maldives and Thailand. [2]

Contents

The Maldives squad travelled to Sri Lanka to play five practice matches before arriving in Malaysia for the series. [3] In the week before the tournament, Malaysia travelled to Singapore to play a three-match T20I series for the Stan Nagaiah Trophy. [4]

The hosts won all six of their games in the round-robin stage. [5] Malaysia defeated Bhutan by 9 wickets in the final. [6]

The 2018–19 ICC T20 World Cup Asia Qualifier was the tournament played as part of qualification process for the 2021 ICC T20 World Cup.

The 2019 ACC Western Region T20 was a Twenty20 International (T20I) cricket tournament held in Oman from 20 to 24 January 2019. The five participating teams were Bahrain, Kuwait, Maldives, Qatar and Saudi Arabia. The matches were all played at the Al Amerat Cricket Stadium in Muscat. All participating nations made their T20I debuts during the tournament, following the decision of the ICC to grant full Twenty20 International status to all its members from 1 January 2019. Saudi Arabia defeated Qatar – who had been unbeaten in the round-robin stage – in the final by 7 wickets. Qatar's Tamoor Sajjad was named the player of the tournament.

The 2019 Malaysia Tri-Nation Series was a Twenty20 International (T20I) cricket tournament held in Malaysia.

The 2019 Thailand Women's T20 Smash was a women's T20I cricket tournament held in Bangkok, Thailand from 12 to 19 January 2019. The participants were the women's national sides of Thailand, Bhutan, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal and United Arab Emirates, as well as a Thailand 'A' side. Matches were recognised as official WT20I games as per ICC's announcement that full WT20I status would apply to all the matches played between women's teams of associate members after 1 July 2018. The matches were played at the Asian Institute of Technology Ground and the Terdthai Cricket Ground, both in Bangkok. Thailand won the tournament after winning all of their matches.

The 2022 Asia Cup Qualification was a men's cricket tournament which took place in Oman in August 2022 to determine qualification for the 2022 Asia Cup. The 2020 editions of the ACC Western and Eastern regional T20 tournaments were held in February and March of the same year by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC). Thirteen teams competed, with the aim of progressing to the qualifier. These were scheduled to be followed by the Asia Cup Qualifier tournament in Malaysia, which was due to be played in August 2020. However, in July 2020 the Asia Cup was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, resulting in the postponement of the qualifier. In May 2021, the Asian Cricket Council confirmed that there would be no Asia Cup in 2021, with that edition of the tournament deferred until 2023. It was later announced that there would be a T20I Asia Cup in 2022, to be hosted by the United Arab Emirates.

Men's cricket at the 2019 South Asian Games was held in Kirtipur, Nepal from 3 to 9 December 2019. The men's tournament featured under-23 squads from Bangladesh and Sri Lanka and senior squads from Bhutan, Maldives and Nepal. India and Pakistan did not participate.

The 2021 ICC Men's T20 World Cup Asia Qualifier was a tournament that was played as part of qualification process for the 2022 ICC Men's T20 World Cup in October 2021. In April 2018, the International Cricket Council (ICC) granted full international status to Twenty20 men's matches played between member sides from 1 January 2019 onwards. Therefore, all the matches in the Regional Qualifiers were played as Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is). The Asia Qualifier consisted of two sub-regional groups, A and B, with the groups being played in Qatar and Malaysia respectively. The winners of each sub-regional group progressed to one of two global qualifiers. On 2 September 2021, the ICC announced that Group A had been moved from Kuwait to Qatar.

The 2021 ICC Women's T20 World Cup Asia Qualifier was a cricket tournament that took place in the United Arab Emirates in November 2021. The matches were played with Women's Twenty20 International (WT20I) status, with the top team progressing to the 2022 ICC Women's T20 World Cup Qualifier tournament. Bhutan and Myanmar were originally scheduled to make their debuts at an ICC women's event. Originally scheduled to take place in September 2021, the tournament was postponed in May 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The 2022 Women's Twenty20 Asia Cup was the eighth edition of the Women's Asia Cup tournament which took place from 1 to 15 October 2022 in Sylhet, Bangladesh. The tournament was contested between Bangladesh, India, Malaysia, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Thailand and United Arab Emirates. On 20 September 2022, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) announced the schedule of the tournament. Bangladesh were the defending champions, having defeated India by three wickets in the final of the 2018 tournament to win the title for the first time. The tournament was played at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium. The seven teams played in a round-robin stage, with the top four progressing to the semi-finals.

The 2022 ACC Women's T20 Championship was a women's Twenty20 International (WT20I) cricket tournament that was held in Malaysia from 17 to 25 June 2022. The tournament was organised by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) and the top two sides qualified for the 2022 Women's Twenty20 Asia Cup. The series was the last to be played at the Kinrara Academy Oval before the ground closed on 30 June 2022.

The 2022 Stan Nagaiah Trophy was a Twenty20 International (T20I) cricket tournament which was held in Singapore in June 2022. The annual Stan Nagaiah Trophy was first contested between Malaysia and Singapore in 1995. This was the first time that the series had been contested since 2018, and the first to be played with T20I status.

The 2022 Saudari Cup was contested between the women's national teams of Singapore and Malaysia from 8 to 10 July 2022. The series consisted of three Women's Twenty20 International (WT20I) matches.

The 2022 Singa Championship Series was a Twenty20 International (T20I) cricket series between the men's national teams of Singapore and Papua New Guinea which took place in Singapore in July 2022. Singapore came into the series after losing the 2022 Stan Nagaiah Trophy series to Malaysia two days earlier. The series provided both teams with preparation for the 2022 ICC Men's T20 World Cup Global Qualifier B tournament.

The 2023 ICC Men's T20 World Cup Asia Qualifier was a cricket tournament that formed part of the qualification process for the 2024 ICC Men's T20 World Cup.

The 2022 United Arab Emirates Women's Quadrangular Series was a women's Twenty20 International (WT20I) cricket tournament that was played in Dubai from 10 to 13 September 2022. The participants were the women's national sides of United Arab Emirates, Thailand, United States and Zimbabwe. The tournament provided all four teams with preparation for the 2022 ICC Women's T20 World Cup Qualifier.

The Netherlands women's cricket team toured Thailand in November and December 2022 to play four Women's One Day Internationals (WODIs) and four Women's Twenty20 Internationals (WT20Is). The matches were played at the Royal Chiangmai Golf Club in Mae Faek, Chiang Mai province. The WODI matches were the first played by Thailand since the International Cricket Council granted them ODI status in May 2022.

The 2022 Desert Cup T20I Series was a Twenty20 International (T20I) cricket tournament that took place in Oman in November 2022. The participating teams were the hosts Oman along with Bahrain, Canada and Saudi Arabia. The tournament was played as a double round-robin, with the top two sides advancing to the final. The T20I tournament was followed by a three-match 50-over series between Oman and Canada, as the Canadians prepared for the final event of the 2019–2022 ICC Cricket World Cup Challenge League in Malaysia in December 2022.

The 2022–23 Malaysia Quadrangular Series was a Twenty20 International (T20I) cricket tournament which took place in Malaysia in December 2022. The participating teams were the hosts Malaysia along with Bahrain, Qatar and Singapore.

The 2023 ICC Women's T20 World Cup Asia Qualifier was a cricket tournament that formed part of the qualification process for the 2024 ICC Women's T20 World Cup. The Asia Qualifier was hosted by Malaysia in August and September 2023. The two teams to reach the final of the qualifier tournament progressed to the global qualifier.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">2024 ACC Men's Challenger Cup</span> Cricket tournament

The 2024 ACC Men's Challenger Cup, the second edition of the ACC Men's Challenger Cup, is being played in Thailand in January and February 2024. All of the matches have Twenty20 International (T20I) status, and the tournament is a part of the qualification pathway for the 2025 Asia Cup. The top two teams in the tournament will qualify for the 2024 ACC Men's Premier Cup.
