The 43rd Assembly district of New York is one of the 150 districts in the New York State Assembly. It is currently represented by Democrat Brian Cunningham since 2022.
The 43rd State Assembly district of New York is currently represented by Brian Cunningham, following a special election in 2022. [1] He succeeded Assemblywoman Diana Richardson, following her appointment as Brooklyn Deputy Borough President. [2] Richardson was the first candidate to be elected in 2015 on the Working Families Party line. [3] Following that election, her election victories have been on the Democratic Party line.
The 43rd district is in Brooklyn, comprising the neighborhoods of Prospect Lefferts Gardens and Crown Heights. [4]
The district is entirely within New York's 9th congressional district, and overlaps the 20th and 21st districts of the New York State Senate, and the 35th, 36th, 40th and 41st districts of the New York City Council.

He is a member of the Democratic Party, and was elected Brooklyn borough president in the 2021 election. He previously was a member of the New York City Council for the 34th district from 2014 to 2021. The district included portions of Bushwick, Greenpoint, and Williamsburg in Brooklyn and Ridgewood, Queens.
Jesse Hamilton is an American lawyer and politician in New York City. A member of the Democratic Party, he represented the New York State Senate's 20th District, including parts of the Brooklyn neighborhoods of Crown Heights, Brownsville and East Flatbush from 2015 to 2018. Hamilton is a former member of the Independent Democratic Conference (IDC), a group of Democratic senators who allied themselves with Senate Republicans. Hamilton is the Secretary of the Brooklyn Democratic Party, the official organization of the Democratic Party for Brooklyn. He was defeated in the September 2018 Democratic primary election by lawyer Zellnor Myrie.
