New York's 49th State Assembly district is one of the 150 districts in the New York State Assembly. It has been represented by Lester Chang since 2023.
District 49 is in Brooklyn. It contains portions of Dyker Heights, Sunset Park, Borough Park and Bensonhurst.
The district overlaps (partially) with New York's 9th, 10th and 11th congressional districts, the 17th, 22nd and 26th districts of the New York State Senate, and the 38th, 43rd and 47th districts of the New York City Council.
District 49 is in Brooklyn. It contains portions of Dyker Heights, Sunset Park, and Bensonhurst.

Dyker Heights is a predominantly residential neighborhood in the southwest corner of the borough of Brooklyn in New York City. It is on a hill between Bay Ridge, Bensonhurst, Borough Park, and Gravesend Bay. The neighborhood is bounded by 7th and 14th Avenues, 65th Street, and the Belt Parkway on the west, east, north, and south, respectively.
Bensonhurst is a residential neighborhood in the southwestern section of the New York City borough of Brooklyn. The neighborhood is bordered on the northwest by 14th Avenue, on the northeast by 60th Street, on the southeast by Avenue P and 22nd Avenue and on the southwest by 86th Street. It is adjacent to the neighborhoods of Dyker Heights to the northwest, Borough Park and Mapleton to the northeast, Bath Beach to the southwest, and Gravesend to the southeast.
The first Brooklyn Chinatown, was originally established in the Sunset Park area of the New York City borough of Brooklyn. It is one of the largest and fastest growing ethnic Chinese enclaves outside of Asia, as well as within New York City itself. Because this Chinatown is rapidly evolving into an enclave predominantly of Fuzhou immigrants from Fujian Province in China, it is now increasingly common to refer to it as the Little Fuzhou or Fuzhou Town of the Western Hemisphere; as well as the largest Fuzhou enclave of New York City.
Each of New York City's five counties has its own criminal court system and District Attorney, the chief public prosecutor who is directly elected by popular vote. Charles J. Hynes, a Democrat, was the District Attorney of Kings County from 1990 to 2013. Brooklyn has 16 City Council members, the largest number of any of the five boroughs. The Brooklyn Borough Government includes a borough government president as well as a court, library, borough government board, head of borough government, deputy head of borough government and deputy borough government president.
New York's 25th State Senate district is one of 63 districts in the New York State Senate. It has been represented by Democrat Jabari Brisport since 2021, succeeding fellow Democrat Velmanette Montgomery. District 25 is currently the most Democratic-leaning district in the Senate.
