New York's 49th State Assembly district is one of the 150 districts in the New York State Assembly. It has been represented by Lester Chang since 2023.
District 49 is in Brooklyn. It contains portions of Dyker Heights, Sunset Park, Borough Park and Bensonhurst.
The district overlaps (partially) with New York's 9th, 10th and 11th congressional districts, the 17th, 22nd and 26th districts of the New York State Senate, and the 38th, 43rd and 47th districts of the New York City Council.
District 49 is in Brooklyn. It contains portions of Dyker Heights, Sunset Park, and Bensonhurst.
Due to a residency challenge to the election winner, Lester Chang, this election may be voided and a special election called. [1]

Dyker Heights is a predominantly residential neighborhood in the southwest corner of the borough of Brooklyn in New York City. It is on a hill between Bay Ridge, Bensonhurst, Borough Park, and Gravesend Bay. The neighborhood is bounded by 7th and 14th Avenues, 65th Street, and the Belt Parkway on the west, east, north, and south, respectively.
Bensonhurst is a residential neighborhood in the southwestern section of the New York City borough of Brooklyn. The neighborhood is bordered on the northwest by 14th Avenue, on the northeast by 60th Street, on the southeast by Avenue P and 22nd Avenue and on the southwest by 86th Street. It is adjacent to the neighborhoods of Dyker Heights to the northwest, Borough Park and Mapleton to the northeast, Bath Beach to the southwest, and Gravesend to the southeast.
Leo C. Zeferetti was a Democratic member of the United States House of Representatives from New York. Born in Brooklyn, New York, he attended public schools in the borough. He served in the United States Navy from 1944 to 1946 and was an officer of the New York City Department of Correction from 1957 to 1974. During this period, he enrolled at New York University (1963) and Baruch College (1964-1966) but did not take a degree from either institution.
