Ouachita Parish is located in the northern part of the U.S. state of Louisiana. As of the 2020 census, the population was 160,368. The parish seat is Monroe. The parish was formed in 1807.

The architecture is based on that of the old Dutchtown High, which was situated across the highway at the current Dutchtown Middle School.

Matt Viator is an American football coach. He served as the head football coach at McNeese State University from 2006 to 2015 and the University of Louisiana at Monroe from 2016 to 2020. Viator began his coaching career in 1986 as a high school assistant coach, before leading several high schools in southwestern Louisiana as a head coach. He moved to the college ranks at McNeese State in 1999 and was elevated to head coach four games into the 2006 season after the firing of Tommy Tate.

The Louisiana Tech–Louisiana–Monroe football rivalry is an American college football rivalry between the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs and the Louisiana–Monroe Warhawks. The two schools are located 35 miles apart from each other on I-20 in North Louisiana. The two teams have met 43 times on the football field, with Louisiana Tech currently holding a 29–14 lead in the all-time series. The game was put on hiatus in 2000, following the Bulldogs' transition to the Western Athletic Conference, but future matchups have been scheduled.

Scott McDonald is an American college athletics administrator. He was most recently the athletic director at the University of Louisiana at Monroe, a position he held from 2018 to 2022. He previously served as chief administrative officer and as interim athletic director at Louisiana–Monroe. McDonald played college baseball at Northeast Louisiana University from 1980 to 1983, where he led his team to the 1983 Southland Conference baseball tournament championship and a berth in the 1983 NCAA Division I baseball tournament. McDonald was named interim athletic director at the University of Louisiana at Monroe on September 4, 2018 before being named to the job on a permanent basis on June 12, 2019. McDonald resigned his position as athletic director at the University of Louisiana at Monroe on August 15, 2022.
