Phragmatobia is a genus of moths in the subfamily Arctiinae described by James Francis Stephens in 1828. Many tiger-moth species of small and medium size were described within this genus. However, only a few are related to the type species.
All other species were separated into different genera, or still remain in Phragmatobia and wait for reviewers:
Amastus is a genus of moths in the family Erebidae. The genus was erected by Francis Walker in 1855.
Amata is a genus of tiger moths in the family Erebidae. The genus was erected by Johan Christian Fabricius in 1807.
Amerila is a genus of moths in the subfamily Arctiinae. A number of species in this genus have a special defence mechanism when they are in their adult stage. When disturbed, they exude a frothy yellow fluid from glands beside the eyes, while making a sizzling noise to ward off their attacker. Similar behaviour has been observed in fertilised females of the North-American moth Utetheisa ornatrix.
Baritius is a genus of moths in the family Erebidae. The genus was erected by Francis Walker in 1855.
Ceryx is a genus of moths in the family Erebidae. It was described by Hans Daniel Johan Wallengren in 1863.
Elysius is a genus of moths in the family Erebidae. The genus was erected by Francis Walker in 1855.
Estigmene is a genus of tiger moths in the family Erebidae erected by Jacob Hübner in 1820. The species in the genus are native to North and Central America.
Eucereon is a genus of tiger moths in the family Erebidae. The genus was erected by Jacob Hübner in 1819.
Lemyra is a genus of tiger moths in the family Erebidae. The genus contains many species from East and South Asia, Sundaland and Australia. It was described by Francis Walker in 1856.
Lophocampa is a genus of moths in the family Erebidae. The genus was erected by Thaddeus William Harris in 1841. It contains around 75 species.
Melese is a genus of moths in the family Erebidae. The genus was erected by Francis Walker in 1854.
Paracles is a genus of moths in the subfamily Arctiinae. The genus was described by Francis Walker in 1855. The species range from Panama to Patagonia, with quite a few in the southern temperate region of South America.
Spilarctia is a genus of moths in the family Erebidae. The genus was erected by Arthur Gardiner Butler in 1875.
Spilosoma is a genus of moths in the family Erebidae originally described by John Curtis in 1825. A very heterogeneous group, it is in need of review by the scientific community, as certain species probably need reclassification into their own genera.
Teracotona is a genus of moths in the family Erebidae from the Afrotropics. The genus was erected by Arthur Gardiner Butler in 1878.
Trichromia is a genus of moths in the family Erebidae erected by Jacob Hübner in 1819. The members of this genus are largely indigenous to South America.
Laelia is a genus of tussock moths in the family Erebidae. The genus was described by Stephens in 1828. Species are well distributed throughout Europe, Japan, China, India, Sri Lanka, Myanmar and Java.
