Torpedinidae

The family Torpedinidae contains 22 species of electric rays or torpedoes, flat cartilaginous fishes that produce electricity as a defense and feeding mechanism. They are slow-moving bottom-dwellers.

Manefish

Manefishes are perciform fishes in the family Caristiidae, which today includes 19 extant species distributed in four genera. Chalcidichthys malacapterygius and Absalomichthys velifer are extinct species from the Upper Miocene of Southern California.

Hirundichthys

Hirundichthys is a genus of flying fish. They have elongated, moderately thick, ventrally flattened bodies. The pectoral branch of the lateral line is absent. The upper jaw is not protrusible. The dorsal fin has fewer or equal rays than the anal fin; the dorsal fin is low, with the anterior rays the longest, the pectoral fins are strikingly long, reaching to or almost to caudal fin base; pelvic fins are long, reaching beyond the anal fin origin, and their insertion is closer to the anal fin origin than to the pectoral fin insertion.

Cypselurus

Cypselurus is a genus of flying fish in the family Exocoetidae.

Etmopterus

Etmopterus is a genus of lantern sharks in the squaliform family Etmopteridae. They are found in deep sea ecosystems of the Atlantic, Indian and Pacific Oceans.

Leptolebias

Leptolebias is a ray-finned fish genus of the killifish family Rivulidae. Like many of their relatives, they are rather ambiguously known as "pearlfish".

Physiculus

Physiculus is a genus of morid cods.

Ariomma

Ariomma is a genus of deepwater, marine perciform fishes. Members of this genus are found in the Atlantic, Pacific and Indian Oceans. Several members of this genus are of commercial importance as food fish. This genus is currently the only known genus in its family.

Chimaera (genus)

Chimaera is the type genus of the cartilaginous fish family Chimaeridae.

Gadella

Gadella is a genus of morid cod. The species in this genus are characterised by the absence of a chin barbell, an anterior dorsal fin with 7-11 rays, a long based anal fin which has a straight profile, the outermost rays of the pelvic fin are filamentous and extend a small distance beyond the membrane. They do not have a photophore. The Gadella codlings are found around the tropical and subtropical seas around the world on the outer continental shelf to the mid continental slope. They are of no interest to fisheries.

Holanthias

Holanthias is a genus of colourful marine ray-finned fishes in the subfamily Anthiinae, part of the family Serranidae, the groupers and sea basses. The two species are restricted to fairly deep reefs in the Southeast Atlantic. Both reach a length of about 22 cm (8.7 in).

Poromitra

Poromitra is a genus of ridgeheads.

Gyrodactylidae

Gyrodactylidae is a family of flatworms in the order Gyrodactylidea.

Anatoly Petrovich Andriyashev was a Soviet Russian ichthyologist, marine biologist, and zoogeographist, notable for his studies of marine fauna of the Arctic and the Northern Pacific.

Caristius

Caristius is a genus of manefishes native to the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans.

Neocaristius heemstrai is a species of fish in the family Caristiidae, the manefishes. It is native to the oceans of the southern hemisphere where it is known to occur at depths of from 420 to 1,360 metres. This species grows to a length of 11.8 centimetres (4.6 in) SL.

Paracaristius is a genus of fish in the family Caristiidae, the manefishes. It is a small genus with mostly newly described species.

Opecoelidae

Opecoelidae is a family of trematodes. It is the largest digenean family with over 90 genera and nearly 900 species, almost solely found in marine and freshwater teleost fishes. It was considered by Bray et al. to belong in the superfamily Opecoeloidea Ozaki, 1925 or the Brachycladioidea Odhner, 1905.

Lepidopus

Lepidopus is a genus of fishes belonging to the family Trichiuridae.
