This is the alphabetical categorised list of statewide, regional and local political families involved in the politics and various elections of Jharkhand state of India at state (Jharkhand Legislative Assembly) and National level (Lok Sabha). The Soren family has produced two Chief Ministers, and family members have largely led the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) since 1972. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Indian National Congress (INC) and All Jharkhand Students Union (AJSU) also has several dynastic leaders.

Shibu Soren is an Indian politician who is currently member of Rajya Sabha representing Jharkhand and the leader of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha. He formerly served as 3rd Chief Minister of Jharkhand, first in 2005 for 10 days, then from 2008 to 2009 and again from 2009 to 2010. He is also the President of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) political party, a constituent of the INDIA Alliance. He was the member of Lok Sabha from Dumka from 1980 to 1984, 1989 to 1998 and from 2002 to 2019 and Minister for Coal in the Union Cabinet from 2004 to 2004, 2004 to 2005 and from 2006 to 2006, when a Delhi district court found him guilty in the murder of his private secretary Shashi Nath Jha in 1994. He has also been indicted in the past on other criminal charges.

Jharkhand Mukti Morcha is a political party in the Indian state of Jharkhand which was founded by Binod Bihari Mahato. Shibu Soren is the president of the JMM. JMM is also an influential political party in the state of Odisha and parts of neighbouring of states. Its election symbol for Jharkhand is Bow and Arrow.

Although India is a parliamentary democracy, the country's politics has become dynastic or with high level of nepotism, possibly due to the absence of party organizations, independent civil-society associations which mobilize support for a party, or centralized financing of elections. The dynastic phenomenon is present at the national, state, regional, and district level. The Nehru–Gandhi family has produced three Indian prime ministers, and family members have largely led the Congress party since 1978. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) also has several dynastic leaders. In addition to the major national parties, other national and regional parties such as Shiromani Akali Dal, Shiv Sena, Samajwadi Party, Rashtriya Janata Dal, Janata Dal Secular, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, Kerala Congress, Jammu & Kashmir National Conference, Indian Union Muslim League, AIMIM, and the Nationalist Congress Party are all dominated by families, mostly those of the party founders.

Rameshwar Oraon is an Indian politician from Jharkhand. He served as the Finance Minister of Jharkhand and was also a member of the 14th Lok Sabha. He represented the Lohardaga constituency of Jharkhand and is a member of the Indian National Congress Party. He is a member of the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly.

Jagada Nand Singh is an Indian politician. He is son of Lt. Ramruchi Singh and has done LLB from Harish Chander College in Varanasi in the year 1973. He was a member of the Indian Parliament and represented Buxar in the 15th Lok Sabha from RJD. He was also a 6 term MLA of RJD from Ramgarh Constituency before he became an MP from Buxar of RJD. He is State President of Rashtriya Janata Dal of Bihar.

Chhedi Paswan is a former member of 16th Lok Sabha and a former member of Bihar Legislative Assembly. He represented the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) from 2014 to 2024. At various points, he has been with Janata Party, then its Charan Singh faction, then the reunited Janata Dal, Bahujan Samaj Party, Nationalist Congress Party, Lalu Prasad Yadav's RJD and Nitish Kumar's JD(U).

Veena Devi is an Indian politician serving her 2nd term as current Member of parliament from Vaishali. She is a former member of Bihar Legislative Assembly from the Gaighat constituency. In the 2019 Indian general election, she contested from Vaishali with Lok Janshakti Party and defeated Raghuvansh Prasad Singh.

Mahto or Mahato is a surname used by several castes and communities in the states of Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh and Odisha in India. Mahato is also a popular surname in Nepal. In the zamindari villages, "Mahto" was a title given to the headman of a village ward. The mahto's duties were to maintain peace in his area, and collect revenue for the zamindar. In Chotanagpur plateau region of Jharkhand, including in the Oraon tribal society, Mahato was historically a title of the village chief. In Bihar, the surname Mahto is primarily used by people belonging to Kushwaha caste. While in Jharkhand, it is a term most often associated with Koeri and Kurmi caste.

Kumar Sarvjeet is an Indian Politician who is currently serving as minister of tourism, Bihar, and as a member of the Bihar Legislative Assembly from Bodh Gaya. He is the son of Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha Rajesh Kumar. He is also a social worker and member of the Rashtriya Janata Dal, the largest political party in the state of Bihar, India. He was elected twice as the representative of the Bodh Gaya, being the first to do so in 63 years. He belongs to the Dalit community of Paswan. He entered politics after his father's murder.


Lobin Hembrom is an Indian politician and member of the Bharatiya Janata Party. Hembrom was three times member of the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly from the Borio constituency in Sahibganj district in 2000 - 2004, 2009 - 2013, and 2019 -2023 on Jharkhand Mukti Morcha ticket.

Kushwaha is a surname used by people of Koeri caste in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. The Kushwahas are also known as Maurya, Shakya, Saini in various parts of north India. As per one opinion, the Kushwaha surname is also common among members of Kachhi caste, who later merged with the Koeris to become a single homogeneous community. They are a dominant OBC community in the state of Bihar.
