Proexochokefalos (meaning "big head with big tuberosities") is an extinct genus of machimosaurid teleosauroid from the Jurassic of France [1]
The type species, S. heberti, was originally named "Steneosaurus" heberti by Morel de Glasville in 1876 from a complete skull and mandible (MNHN.F 1890-13) found in the Callovian aged Marnes de Dives near Villers-sur-mer in the Calvados department of Normandy, France. [2] [3] [4] Steneosaurus depressus is a junior synonym. Another species referred to the genus, Proexochokefalos cf. bouchardi is known from remains from the Calcaire de Caen, France, and Reuchenette Formation, Switzerland. [1]
Auberville is a commune in the Calvados department in the Normandy region of north-western France.
Houlgate is a small tourist resort in northwestern France along the English Channel with a beach and a casino. It is a commune in the Calvados department in the Normandy region.

Villers-sur-Mer is a commune in the Calvados department in Normandy, northwestern France, with a population of 2,765 as of 2016.
Machimosaurus is an extinct genus of machimosaurid crocodyliform from the Late Jurassic and Early Cretaceous. The type species, Machimosaurus hugii, was found in Switzerland. Other fossils have been found in England, France, Germany, Portugal, Switzerland and Tunisia. Machimosaurus rex is the largest named teleosauroid and thalattosuchian, with an estimated length of approximately 7.2 metres. Machimosaurus is the largest known crocodyliform of the Jurassic.
Streptospondylus is a genus of tetanuran theropod dinosaur known from the Late Jurassic period of France, 161 million years ago. It was a medium-sized predator with an estimated length of 6 meters and a weight of 500 kg (1,100lbs).
Teleosaurus is an extinct genus of teleosaurid crocodyliform found in the Middle Jurassic Calcaire de Caen of France. It was approximately 3 metres (10 ft) in length. The holotype is MNHN AC 8746, a quarter of a skull. Other fragmentary specimens are known. A single species, T. cadomensis, exists. It was previously considered a wastebasket taxon, with many other remains assigned to the genus.
Jacques Philippe Raymond Draparnaud was a French naturalist, malacologist and botanist.
Steneosaurus is a dubious genus of teleosaurid crocodyliform from the Middle or Late Jurassic of France. The genus has been used as a wastebasket taxon for thalattosuchian fossils for over two centuries, and almost all known historical species of teleosauroid have been included within it at one point. The genus has remained a wastebasket, with numerous species still included under the label ‘Steneosaurus’, many of which are unrelated to each other.
The Marnes de Dives is a geological formation in Normandy, France. It dates back to the upper part of the Callovian stage of the Middle Jurassic. And is partially equivalent to the Oxford Clay in England. It predominantly consists of ooidal marl, rich in pyrite and lignite, interbedded with thin limestone horizons. It is best exposed at the base of the Falaises des Vaches Noires as well as the foreshore at low tide. It is known for its fossils, notablity those of ammonites, marine crocodiles and fragmentary remains of dinosaurs, mostly theropods.

Lemmysuchus is a genus of machimosaurid thalattosuchian from the Middle Jurassic Callovian of England and France. Like many other teleosauroids from Europe, it has had a convoluted taxonomic history.

Neosteneosaurus is a genus of machimosaurid, known form the Middle Jurassic Oxford Clay of the UK, and Marnes de Dives, France. The type species, N. edwardsi, was originally named as a species of Steneosaurus in 1868, but was moved to its own genus in 2020. Steneosaurus durobrivensis and Steneosaurus hulkei are considered junior synonyms.
Seldsienean in an extinct genus of machimosaurid thalattosuchian from the Middle Jurassic of England and France. It is known from the Calcaire de Caen and the Cornbrash Formation.
Thalattosuchus is an extinct genus of marine crocodyliform that lived in the oceans during the Middle to Late Jurassic. Thalattosuchus was named in 2020. Thalattosuchus was a carnivore that spent much, if not all, its life out at sea. No Thalattosuchus eggs or nests have been discovered, so little is known of the reptile's life cycle, unlike other large marine reptiles of the Mesozoic, such as plesiosaurs or ichthyosaurs which are known to have given birth to live young out at sea. Where Thalattosuchus mated, whether on land or at sea, is currently unknown. The name Thalattosuchus means "sea crocodile".
