I Can See Your Voice franchise |
Qui sait chanter? (English: Who can sing?) [1] is a Canadian French-language television mystery music game show series, based on the South Korean program I Can See Your Voice for the province of Quebec. Since the show's premiere on 13 September 2021, [2] [3] it has aired two seasons on Noovo.
Presented with a group of six "mystery singers" identified only by their occupation, a guest artist and contestant must attempt to eliminate bad singers from the group without ever hearing them sing, assisted by clues and a celebrity panel over the course of several rounds. [lower-alpha 1] At the end of the game, the last remaining mystery singer is revealed as either good or bad by means of a duet between them and one of the guest artists.
The contestant must eliminate one mystery singer at the end of each round, receiving a petty cash [lower-alpha 1] if they eliminate a bad singer. At the end of the game, the contestant may either end the game and keep the money they had won in previous rounds, or risk it for a chance to win CA$25,000 by correctly guessing whether the last remaining mystery singer is good or bad.
Each mystery singer performs a lip sync to a song; good singers mime to a recording of their own, while bad singers mime to a recording by someone else. At the conclusion of performances, the contestant eliminates one mystery singer from each group.
Bell Media formally acquired the rights to produce a local adaptation of I Can See Your Voice in Canada (catering the province of Quebec) in March 2021, [5] [6] including with production duties assigned by Productions J and ToRoS. [7]
Filming of the show took place at various locations, such as Place Bell in Laval [8] and Scène Éthique in Varennes.
Qui sait chanter? debuted on 13 September 2021. [2] [3] During its first season airings, the series was already renewed for a second season, [9] with regular episodes began airing on 19 September 2022. [10] [11]
In the second season, Paul Daraîche played in the Wild West special that premiered on 12 September 2022, [12] [13] followed by Rita Baga for Halloween special on 31 October 2022, [14] [15] and Marc Hervieux for holiday special that concluded on 12 December 2022. [16] [17]
