Rajendra University, formerly known as Rajendra Autonomous College is situated in Balangir, Odisha, India. [2]
The university was established as an Intermediate college in 1944 by Maharaja Rajendra Narayan Singh Deo, the erstwhile ruler of Patna State and one of the former Chief Ministers of Odisha as Rajendra College. [3]
It started degree courses in July 1944 by offering B.A. (pass) class. It became a full-fledged degree college after the affiliation of Commerce Faculty (B.Com. class) in 1964–65 and Science faculty (B.Sc. class) in 1965–66. From 1978 to 1979, it started offering post graduate courses in Arts, Science and Commerce. From 1967 to 2002, this college was affiliated to Sambalpur University. [4]
The college was granted autonomy from 1 April 2002.
In December 2019, the college celebrated its platinum anniversary where Vice President of India Venkaiah Naidu was to inaugurate, but couldn't because of bad weather. He delivered a video message and inaugurated the function. [5]
It was upgraded by the Government of Odisha to a university on 1 September 2020. Deepak Kumar Behera was appointed as first vice chancellor of this university. [6]
In 2020, Chief Minister of Odisha sanctioned 50 crores for development of this university. [7]
The college offers three-year degree courses and two-year post-graduate degree programmes in following departments.

Odisha University of Technology and Research (OUTR) formerly College of Engineering and Technology, Bhubaneswar (CETB) is a public unitary technical university under the state government of Odisha located in Bhubaneswar, the capital of Odisha, India. It was established in 1981, by Government of Orissa, as a constituent college of Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology. Students are admitted to the college through the Joint Entrance Examination (main) merit list of Government of India. The Institute is accredited by the National Board of Accreditation. The Government of Odisha has granted unitary university status.

Rajdhani College is a college owned by the Government of Odisha located in the capital city of Bhubaneswar, Odisha. The college started in 1973 as one of the three government colleges in the city of Bhubaneswar in addition to the Buxi Jagabandhu Bidyadhar College and College of Basic Science and Humanities, Bhubaneswar for general science and arts studies. In 1975 the college was shifted to a temporary government building in Unit-I and functioned there for fourteen years as an independent institution. The Institute of Mathematics and Applications (IMA), located in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, in India, is a research and education institution that was established by the Government of Odisha in 1999. Its dual purposes are to conduct advanced research in pure and applied mathematics and to provide postgraduate education leading to master's and Ph.D. degrees in mathematics, computation, computational finance, and data science. The institute also runs training programs in schools aimed at increasing mathematics awareness and leading to competitions such as the Mathematics Olympiads. Lakshman Kumar Mahapatra was an Indian anthropologist born in Odisha. He graduated in anthropology from the University of Calcutta and received a doctorate from the University of Hamburg. He was Vice-Chancellor of Utkal University in 1986 and Sambalpur University in 1989. While heading the anthropology department at Utkal University, he was the first academic in India to start a course on Southeast Asia in the regular curriculum at the university level in India.
