Randy Alan Udell (born 1961) is an American telecommunications engineer and Democratic politician from Fitchburg,Wisconsin. He is a member of the Wisconsin State Assembly,representing Wisconsin's 47th Assembly district since 2025. He is also the current treasurer of the Democratic Party of Wisconsin,and represents the Fitchburg area as a member of the Dane County Board of Supervisors,since April 2024. [1]
Udell was born in Beloit,Wisconsin,in 1961. He attended public school in Janesville,Wisconsin,later attending the University of Wisconsin–Whitewater. While at UW–Whitewater,he was involved in student government,serving as a student senator,as well as party politics,working for Representative Les Aspin and chairing the campus Young Democrats organization. After graduating from UW-Whitewater,Udell worked for Maryland Attorney General Stephen Sachs,later returning to Wisconsin and serving as the chair and treasurer of the 2nd Congressional District Democratic Party of Wisconsin. [2]
Udell was first elected to the Fitchburg city council in 2020 to the 4th district,and was re-elected in 2022. In 2023 Udell ran for Fitchburg mayor,but was defeated by Julia Arata-Fratta by four points. [4]
In December 2023 Udell announced a run for Dane County Board of Supervisors,and was subsequently elected to the 33rd district in the 2024 Spring election. [5]
Following Senator Melissa Agard's retirement,47th district representative Jimmy Anderson announced a bid to replace her,leaving the district open. [6] Shortly afterwards,Fitchburg alderman Joe Maldonado and Udell both announced bids to replace him. [7] During the primary Udell campaigned on expanding broadband access to rural areas,while also emphasizing his experience in finance and budgeting as chair of the Fitchburg city council's finance committee and as Treasurer of the state Democratic Party. In the primary election,Udell went on to defeat Maldonado by a slim 2 percent margin. [9] As no Republican filed to run for the seat,Udell was unopposed for election and took office at the start of the 107th Wisconsin Legislature,on January 6,2025.
Udell and his husband,Brad,live in Fitchburg with their rescue dog Morgan. [3]

Dane County is a county in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. As of the 2020 census,the population was 561,504,making it the second-most populous county in Wisconsin after Milwaukee County. The county seat is Madison,which is also the state capital. Dane County is the central county of the Madison metropolitan area,as well as the Madison–Janesville–Beloit combined statistical area.
Fitchburg is a city in Dane County,Wisconsin,United States. The population was 29,609 at the 2020 census. It is a suburb south of Madison and is part of the Madison metropolitan area. Fitchburg consists of a mix of suburban neighborhoods closer to the border with Madison,commercial and industrial properties,and rural properties in the south.
Wisconsin's 2nd congressional district is a congressional district of the United States House of Representatives in southern Wisconsin,covering Dane County,Iowa County,Lafayette County,Sauk County and Green County,as well as portions of Richland County and Rock County. Paul R. Alfonsi was an American educator,businessman,and Progressive Republican politician from northern Wisconsin. He was the 55th speaker of the Wisconsin State Assembly,and served a total of 20 years in the Assembly,spread over the 1930s,1950s,and 1960s. Later in his career,he also served two terms as majority leader and half a term as minority leader,when he was convicted of receiving a bribe—that conviction was later reversed by the Wisconsin Supreme Court.

Shelia Renee Stubbs is an American pastor,former probation and parole agent,and Democratic politician from Madison,Wisconsin. She is a member of the Wisconsin State Assembly,representing the south side of the city of Madison since 2019. She is Dane County's first African American representative in the Wisconsin Legislature. She also previously served 16 years as a member of the Dane County Board of Supervisors (2006–2022),and was the only African American member from 2006 to 2020.
