The Research Organization for Aeronautics and Space (Indonesian : Organisasi Riset Penerbangan dan Antariksa, ORPA) is one of the research organizations under the umbrella of the National Research and Innovation Agency (Badan Riset dan Inovasi Nasional, BRIN). It was founded on 1 September 2021 as the successor of the National Institute of Aeronautics and Space (Lembaga Penerbangan dan Antariksa Nasional, LAPAN) following the liquidation of LAPAN into BRIN. Founded on 1 September 2021 as ORPA (Organisasi Riset Penerbangan dan Antariksa), ORPA was transformation of LAPAN after the liquidation of LAPAN into BRIN. As research organization of BRIN, as outlined in Article 175 and Article 176 of Chief of BRIN Decree No. 1/2021, every Research Organizations under BRIN are responsible and answered to Chief of BRIN. It also prescribed that the Research Organizations consisted with Head of Research Organizations, Centers, and Laboratories/Study Groups. [2] For the transitional period, as in Article 210 of Chairman of BRIN Decree No. 1/2021 mandated, [2] the structure of ORPA follows the preceding structure that already established during its time in LAPAN. Due to this, the temporary structure of ORPA largely follows the Chief of LAPAN Decree No. 1/2021. [3]
On 22 September 2021, ORPA constituting document, Chairman of BRIN Decree No. 5/2021, signed by Laksana Tri Handoko and fully published on 8 October 2021. [4] In the constituting document, it is revealed ORPA retained LAPAN old name. LAPAN acronym however, no longer translated as "Lembaga Penerbangan dan Antariksa Nasional", it just simply "LAPAN", preserving historical LAPAN name. Thus, the organization name become "ORPA-LAPAN".
On 24 January 2022, part of ORPA-LAPAN, Atmospheric Sciences and Technology Center, was transferred to Research Organization for Earth Sciences and Maritime. Aside of the transfer, ORPA-LAPAN structure also slimmed. The change was effective from 1 February 2022 and finalized on 1 March 2022 by Chairman of BRIN Decree No. 5/2022. [5] [6] The organization name reverted again to ORPA and removing its "LAPAN" name through Chairman of BRIN Decree No. 5/2022, backdated from 25 February 2022. [6]
On 19 December 2023, Research Center for Remote Sensing Technology of ORPA tranformed into Research Center for Geo-Informatics by Chairman of BRIN Decree No. 14/2023. [7] and Chairman of BRIN Decree No.18/2023 . [8]

The Research Organization for Social Sciences and Humanities, but goes by name Institute of Social Sciences and Humanities-BRIN or ISSH-BRIN, is one of Research Organizations under the umbrella of the National Research and Innovation Agency. The Research Organization for Nuclear Energy is one of Research Organizations under the umbrella of the National Research and Innovation Agency. It was founded on 1 September 2021. The organization is the transformation of the National Nuclear Energy Agency of Indonesia after the liquidation of BATAN into BRIN.
Iman Hidayat is an Indonesian scientist and public official specialized in mycology, microbiology, and plant pathology. Prior his appointment as Acting Head of the Life Sciences Research Organization, he was a researcher at Research Center for Biomaterial, Indonesian Institutes of Sciences since 1 December 2002. He completed his bachelor degree in Biology at Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Padjadjaran University in 2002, and his doctoral degree in Plant Pathology at Faculty of Agriculture, Chiang Mai University in 2009. During his time as researcher, he completed various courses on ascomycetes taxonomy, plant pathological microorganisms, and molecular phylogenetics.
The Polytechnic Institutes of Nuclear Technology, Indonesia is a state polytechnic under auspices of National Research and Innovation Agency. It was originally founded as Indonesian State College of Nuclear Technology of National Nuclear Energy Agency of Indonesia, the primary training facility of BATAN. After BATAN dissolution, the polytechnics inherited by BRIN. It officially renamed as Politeknik Teknologi Nuklir on 30 October 2021. Since its foundation in 1985, the polytechnic had graduated more than its 1,300 graduates, which many of its graduates absorbed into BATAN and BAPETEN (mostly), with few of its graduates went to academia, health institutions, industries, and other private sectors and entrepreneurs.

The agency dissolved and liquidated into National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) on 31 December 2021 as part of BRIN state research activity integration plan.

On 24 January 2022, the formation of the agency is announced and to be formed on 1 February 2022. The agency is resulted from amalgamation of National Archaeology Research Institute, former Agency for Research and Development and Book Affairs of the Ministry of Education and Culture, part of Research, Development, Education, and Training Agency of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, and Bureau for Checking Copies of the Quran of the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
The Research Organization for Energy and Manufacture is one of Research Organizations under the umbrella of the National Research and Innovation Agency. On 24 January 2022, the formation of the agency is announced and to be formed on 1 February 2022. The organization is resulted from restructuration of Assessment and Application of Technology Research Organization-BPPT and Engineering Science Research Organization.
Indonesian Space Agency or INASA is the Indonesian space agency engaged in activities related to outer space and space exploration policy. INASA differs compared to Research Organization for Aeronautics and Space, because INASA does not perform space research activities, but is more a coordinative agency and is designed as a space lobby and policy making agency.
