Rock Harbour is a local service district and designated place in the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador. It is east of Marystown on Placentia Bay.
Rock Harbour had a population of 149 with 40 households in 1921 [1] and 142 in 1956. The population as of the 2011 Canada census was 66. [2]
Rock Harbour is in Newfoundland within Subdivision D of Division No. 2. [3]
As a designated place in the 2016 Census of Population conducted by Statistics Canada, Rock Harbour recorded a population of 54 living in 24 of its 35 total private dwellings, a change of -18.2% from its 2011 population of 66. The population is around 43 as of 2023. With a land area of 7.36 km2 (2.84 sq mi), it had a population density of 7.3/km2 (19.0/sq mi) in 2016. [4]
A major employer at one point was a nearby fish processing plant operated by FPI then OCI (closed as of 2011) [5] in Marystown and at the Peter Kiewit and Sons Marystown and Cow Head Facilities, [6] but most of the population rely on work elsewhere in the province and country working as skilled tradespersons.
Rock Harbour is a local service district (LSD) [7] that is governed by a committee responsible for the provision of certain services to the community. [8] The chair of the LSD committee is Clyde Hooper. [7]
Tizzard's Harbour is a local service district and designated place in the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador.
Garden Cove is a local service district and designated place in the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador. It is southeast of Swift Current. The residents of Sound Island moved without government assistance during a period around 1953. They moved to the mainland into Garden Cove and surrounding communities. Today Garden Cove has an active close community. There is a tour boat, Merasheen which is part of the Woody Island Resort hotel which gives people a Newfoundland outport experience. Garden Cove has hiking trails passing by Big Rock Hill and Placentiamans Point. There is an inshore fishery operating there. Some species caught are lobster, cod, mackerel, herring, crab, scallops, mussels, flounder and trout. Late in summer Tuna chase bill fish just off shore.
Reefs Harbour-Shoal Cove West-New Ferolle is a local service district and designated place in the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador. It is southwest of Anchor Point.

It was served by the C.N.R Express after June 1953. It had a population of 50 in 1911, 57 by 1940, 106 in 1951 and 146 in 1956.

South East Bight (SEB) or Southeast Bight is a local service district and designated place in the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador. It is on the western shore of Placentia Bay on the Burin Peninsula. The community is not connected by road and is only accessible by ferry from Petite Forte. Many people from the community travel to Monkstown in the winter by snowmobile, but is very uncommon to try to get there in the summer, because of marsh, bogs, ponds and hills. To get to South East Bight one must travel towards Marystown on the Burin Peninsula, turn off the highway at Boat Harbour, travel to Petite Forte and then take a half-hour ferry ride to South East Bight.
Beau Bois is a local service district and designated place in the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador near Burin. It is 40 miles (64 km) from Placentia and 190 miles (310 km) from St. John's. The existence of Beau Bois can be documented at least as early as 1841 and probably existed for decades before. In 1844 widow Ann Farrell petitioned the Supreme Court of Newfoundland for redress of damages done to her by William Ryan and James Shock who went to her meadow at nearby Moorings Cove, Mortier Bay and stole her hay. She had been widowed in 1841 when her husband and sons drowned on a trip getting winter supplies from St. John's. Her cattle, hay, gardens and meadowland were her sole means of support. It is now a suburb of Marystown.
